The NSE Nifty fell for a fifth straight session and touched a one-month low on Tuesday as lenders took a hit following a report that the country’s central bank has demanded higher provisioning for loans submitted under the insolvency process. The BSE Sensex, too, fell. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has asked banks to set aside at least 50% of the loan amount for accounts referred to bankruptcy courts. The move could hurt banks’ earnings to the tune of 500 billion rupees, it reported. Analysts expect government-owned banks to be the worst affected as they hold the chunk of defaulted loans in the country. PSU banks will be under pressure for some more time as improvement in earnings for these banks will get delayed due to higher provisioning requirement,” said Siddharth Purohit, senior research analyst at Angel Broking. The NIFTY PSU Bank index slid as much as 3.5% to its lowest since 24 March. India’s biggest lender SBI declined as much as 3.3% while Bank of Baroda fell as much as 4.8% to its lowest since 23 January. Aurobindo Pharma climbed as much as 3% to its highest since 24 March after Jefferies analysts raised price target on the stock to 780 rupees from 750 rupees and maintained their “buy” rating. Oil marketing and aviation companies trade lower. Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) shares fall 4.6%, Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL) 3%, Indian Oil Corp (IOC) Ltd shares fall 1.4%. Spicejet Ltd shares fall 3.2%, Jet Airways India Ltd 1.2%, InterGlobe Aviation Ltd 1.3%. Fortis Healthcare Ltd fell 2.4% to Rs168.20 as founders sold at least 4% stake in the company in June, according to regulatory filings. In last one month, the stock fell over 19% while so far this year it declined 8.21%. Cadila Healthcare Ltd shares rise 1% to Rs529.90. The company said in a notice to BSE that it got final approval for entecavir tablets from US drug regulator. JP Group stocks were trading higher. Jaiprakash Associates Ltd rose 15%, Jaypee Infratech Ltd 20% and Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd 11%. ideocon Industries Ltd hits 5% upper circuit first time after 25 consecutive sessions of hitting the lower circuit after huge block deal. Around 9.35 million shares of the company changed hands in two block deals. Aurobindo Pharma rose 2.1% to Rs685.55. In the last one month, the stock gained 30%, while so far this year, it has gained 2%. Asian currencies were trading mixed as investors fine-tune positions ahead of a speech by US Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen. Philippines peso was down 0.14%, Thai baht 0.07%, while Japanese yen and Taiwan dollar fell 0.03% each. However, China offshore was up 0.07%, South Korean won 0.05%, Singapore dollar 0.05% and Malaysian ringgit rose 0.03%. Shares of Aditya Birla Nuvo Ltd. and Grasim Industries Ltd. rose over 3.5 percent, on a day when the Nifty dropped most in a month, ahead of a restructuring exercise that would tighten billionaire Kumar Mangalam Birla's grip of a business empire with more than $40 billion in annual revenue. News: The euro-dollar jumped after European Central Bank President Mario

Draghi said factors damping inflation are temporary and policy makers need to stay prudent in adjusting its stimulus mix.

Shares of the disposable healthcare manufacturer snapped its 3-day losing streak and gained as much as 16.48 percent, the most in three months, after the company won a patent battle against German company B. Braun Melsungen on IV catheters, According to a Hindu BusinessLine report.

The media company reported that B. Braun had claimed that the intravenous catheters sold by Poly Medicure were protected by patents.

The stock is gaining with volumes at 29.4 times its 30-day average. The stock had returned 18 percent so far this year and gained 19 percent in the past 52-weeks.

Aviation stocks SpiceJet, Jet Airways and Interglobe Aviation are down for the second straight session as some recovery is seen in Crude prices. Brent Crude has gained 1 percent in the last two trading sessions.

Shares of NMDC Ltd. fell as much as 3.4 percent, the most in nearly four months to Rs 103.40 after brokerage firm Citi downgraded the stock to 'Sell' from 'Neutral.'
