Miss IllinoisMMorton East High School had the pleasure of hosting 2014's Miss Illinois Marisa Buchheit. Miss Illinois gave a presentation to hundreds of students on the importance of safe driving. She explained the dangers of distracted driving and answered a series of questions from our students. Board of Education President Jeffry Pesek said, "Miss. Buchheit did an excellent job explaining and helping spread thethe message that distracted driving can end lives." Miss Buchheit will move on to compete for the Miss America 2015 title in June. The visit was sponsored by Morton High School, The Town of Cicero, and the Cicero Mexican Cultural Committee.

Morton East High School tuvo el placer de recibir a Miss Illinois de 2014, Marisa Buchheit. Miss Illinois dio una presentación a cientos de estudiantes sobre la importancia de la conducción segura. Explicó los peligros de conducir con distracciones, contestando preguntas de nuestros estudiantes. Positive Trends at MortonMany Advanced Placement (AP) courses are offered at Morton. These courses cover the breadth of information, skills, and assignments found in the corresponding college course. In May an AP exam is administered to all students who participate in the course. Students who pass with a 3 or higher out of the 5 possible points are eligible to receive college credit at most major universities worldwide. Students that pass these exams can save thousands of dollars on college.

Parent Liaisons/Padres de EnlaceWWe encourage active participation in your child’s education. As so, we invite parents to join us in one of the many events hosted by the Parent Liaisons. Each school has a Parent Liaison which oversees parent involvement through several events and workshops. We coordinate the monthly “Coffee with the Principal” meeting, a space where the principal and parents have an open dialogue on school initiatives. We also coordinate weekly ESL Classes, Parent Book Club, Computer Classes and an array of school wide events throughout the year. We invite you to join us in one of our many weekly events and become an active member of your son or daughter’s education.IInvitamos su participación en la educación de su hijo. Over 40 students from Morton East and West attend the Junior State of America convention in Washington D.C.
