PRAYER CHAIN

Week of August 26, 2012

Wayne Beeson, Chance Blakley, Jane Burr, Family of Peggy Burr, F.C. Dillon, Lynn Evans, Clark Hemrick, Sylvia Parham, Tom Venable, Family of Marjorie Anne Wilson

Just to let you know a bit about me, I am 23 years old, and I’m currently in my

second year at Duke Divinity School. Before my time at Dook (or is it Duke?) I got

a bachelor’s degree in journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. I grew up in Union County,

North Carolina, just south of Charlotte. I was blessed to attend a church with vibrant

worship and an excellent youth ministry. Looking back upon my formative years, I

know with certainty that the youth ministry at Bethlehem UMC made me who I am

today. God worked in powerful ways through leaders and volunteers, as well as my

peers. Upon graduation from high school, I was led to Camp Tekoa, a camp where I

would serve for the next five summers.

After serving at Tekoa for a few summers, I realized that my passions were in

ministry and teaching. I feel called to professional ministry, and I love working with

(but not exclusively) young people. I am excited about this opportunity to serve in

ministry while simultaneously getting a theological education at Dook. I enjoy

outdoor activities, sports, and spending time with friends and family.

I’m also very happy to tell you that my fiancée, Erin, will be joining me on

Sundays to volunteer with the youth group. Erin is finishing her education to

become a speech language pathologist, and we are planning to get married in May.

As we head into the new school year, please pray for God’s continued

presence, guidance and blessing upon these children and this ministry. I can see

God’s work in this group already, and I hope we all can continue to foster Christian

discipleship.
