How much does a taxi costs in Porto

Taxis in Porto are not that cheap. In the minute you get inside the car you are already paying a 2,5 € fee. If you call them to pick you up, add 0,8 € plus the ride to your place. The rates are higher at night (21:00-6:00), holydays and weekends. There is no extra charge for carrying small bags (55x35x2m cm), wheelchairs or other means used by passengers with reduced mobility and children pushchairs. For carrying bigger types of luggage, the driver can charge you a 1,80 € fee per piece. The Porto bus network (STCP) works generally well and reaches almost everywhere, more than the Metro lines. The buses are modern and comfortable, with air-conditioned, digital information boards and many run on natural gas. Andante Card www.linhandante.com If you’re planning to move around by bus and metro, you should definitely buy a “Andante”. For one, two or infinite trips, this rechargeable paper card will be your best friend during your stay in Porto. You can charge it with single or multiple journeys, saving money instead of paying each journey inside the bus. You can buy and charge the Andante Card almost everywhere in the city. At the airport, metro and train stations, some bus stops, kiosks, Pay Shop agents (look for the red flags on newspaper shops, buildings or coffees) and many other places.

Aliados Avenue is a good place for a monumental and relaxing promenade. On sunny warm days I cannot help to sit outside of one of the cafes every time I am around. There is also Guarany, the most famous piano-bar in Porto. Do not miss a photo next to the statue of D. Pedro IV in a horse. D. Pedro IV won the battles for liberalism and this statue is a symbol of his courage and also his gratitude and affection for the people of Porto.

di Wine Quay Bar Along with Sé, Ribeira is one of the oldest neighborhoods of Porto. It is part of the historic centre and is a World Heritage Centre, protected by UNESCO since 1996. The Praça da Ribeira, the Luis I Bridge, Casa do Infante, Rua da Fonte Taurina, Rua da Lada and Reboleira, and Praça do Infante, are the core of Ribeira do Porto. In 1809, when Napoleon’s troops, commanded by Marshal Soult, invaded Porto, they marched to Ribeira, in order to close all the southern access to the city. The population panicked and ran to the old floating bridge – actually, it was just a set of small skiffs, lashed to each other – that did not hold the weight and fell in parts, causing many

casualties. Even today, in Ribeira, just by the spot where the tragedy took place, there’s a monument – the Alminhas – in memory of those who lost their lives, and every day, the local population places some candles there. • Visit the art galleries on rua Miguel Bombard. Every 2 months there is a Saturday with

live music and entertainment on the street. It’s considered one of the most cultural streets of Porto and besides the art galleries we also suggest a visit to the Bombarda Shopping Mall.

Lonely Planet considered Lello & Irmão Bookstore as the third most beautiful library in the world. The store has an excellent neo-gothic façade, where you can see two figures painted by José Bielman, representing the Science and the Art. This facade is only surpassed by its stunning interior, designed by Xavier Esteves. The building was inaugurated on January 13th, 1906, in an important social event for both Portuguese and Brazilian societies, attended by famous people from different spheres – among them Guerra Junqueiro, a renowned Portuguese writer. As you walk through the doors of this bookstore you’ll notice that there is a marvelous stairway and the wooden walls are also very exquisite. The stained glass ceiliThe policy is very strict concerning photography inside the library, and for a reason: this is a private space which is full of people all the time, but a minority end buying a book. However, you can still enter for free and enjoy the magnificence of the building and there are great postcards that you can buy and take home to complete your photo album. However, I strongly advise to buy a book here, as it becomes an unique experience, connecting all senses. adds an amazing detail with Lello’s motto “vecus in labore”.

• Take the tram (line 1) from the Passeio Alegre to the mouth of the Douro River and go for a walk in this beautiful area where the Douro meets the Atlantic. The price for one trip in the Porto Tram will cost you €3 – it’s a bit expensive but the trip is well worth it.

• Eat lunch out and try the “Francesinha”,

one of the most typical dishes in Porto. It’s a type of sandwich stuffed with different meats and covered with melted cheese and a spicy sauce, whose secret recipe will never be revealed… For a special Francesinha head to “Café Barcarola” (Rua de Costa Cabral, 213) and

ask for the one with prawns and shrimp instead of meat.

• Visit the Palácio da Bolsa do Porto (stock exchange building), one of the most beautiful buildings in Portugal. It’s on the “World Heritage Site” list by UNESCO!

• To see a more cosmopolitan side of the city and experience the night life, it’s mandatory to pass through the Galeria de Paris area and nearby streets. There you will find plenty of bars, restaurants, and a lively atmosphere.

• Igreja do Carmo • Clerigos Tower.

Clérigos church tower was the tallest structure in Portugal when completed in 1763 (the national record is now Lisbon's Vasco da Gama Tower), and as the main feature of the city's skyline, ships used it as a guide when coming into Cais da Ribeira. It's a remarkable baroque landmark designed by the Italian architect Nasoni, who also designed the adjoining church. It has become a popular tourist attraction for the aerial view of the city from the top (76 meters up -- after a steep flight of 240 steps). Inside the church, the highlight is a polychromatic Baroque-Rococo marble retable.

From the summit, tourists are awed by the sensational panoramas of Bilbao's urban landscape. Around the Mount Artxanda summit are lovely areas for taking a walk and admiring the views. The old town of Bilbao is a labyrinth of narrow streets where historic buildings, small souvenir shops, classic bars and elegant churches coexists to create a delightful atmosphere that enthrals locals and tourists alike. Full of Old World charm, the Casco Viejo is on the right bank of the river extending between the San Antón Bridge and the Church of San Nicolás. The Old Town is linked by five bridges with the New Town (Ensanche). The core of the Casco Viejo lies around the Siete Calles (Seven Streets): Somera, Artecalle, Tendería, Belosticalle, Carnicería Vieja, Barrencalle, and Barrencalle Barena. These quaint historic streets are lined with enticing shops and cafés.

In the northern section of the Old Town around the Puente del Arenal is the Paseo del Arenal, the main thoroughfare of this part of Bilbao. Nearby, on the Plaza de Arriaga, is the Teatro Arriaga, an elegant Neo-Baroque theater that was inspired by the Palais Garnier Opera House in Paris. Built in 1890 and later renovated, the Arriaga Theater is the cultural hub of the city where classical music concerts, opera, and theater performances are staged. Another important landmark in the Casco Viejo is the Iglesia de San Nicolás de Bari. This lovely church has a Baroque facade and a unique octagonally shaped interior; the church dates from the 14th century but was completely rebuilt in 1756. The beautiful carved altar and some of the paintings are the work of Juan de Mena. Continuing south of San Nicolás Church, tourists will enjoy a stop at the Plaza Nueva. The square is enclosed by elegant arcaded buildings featuring many restaurants and cafés with outdoor terraces. The Plaza Nueva is also used for town festivals and farmers markets when stalls are set up to sell local fruits and vegetables.

If you are visiting Bilbao, you should definitely take your time to get lost in its Old Town. When you are in the Casco Viejo, don’t forget to check out the St. James Cathedral and the Plaza Nueva where you can try some of the city’s best pintxos. If culture and history of the Basques is what you are after then a trip to the Basque Museum might be in order. Another building that is worth taking a look at is the Bidebarrieta Municipal Library.

Though it is no longer the royal family's home, it continues to be their official residence. Long before Madrid became the capital of Spain, Emir Mohamed I chose Magerit (the city's Arabic name) as the site for a fortress to protect Toledo from the advancing Christians. The building was eventually used by the Kings of Castille until finally becoming what would be known as the Antiguo Alcázar (Old Fortress) in the 14th century. Charles I and his son Philip II turned the building into a permanent residence for the Spanish royal family. However, in 1734 a fire burnt the Palace of the Austrias to the ground, and Philip V ordered the construction of the palace that stands today. It comprises over 3000 rooms, including: the Main Staircase, designed by Sabatini with over 70 steps; the Throne Hall featuring a ceiling painted by Tiepolo; the Hall of Halberdiers, which Charles III turned into the Guards Room; the Gasparini Room, with its grand 18th century decoration on a floral theme; the Royal Chemist's with natural medicine cabinets, ceramic pots made by the La Granja factory, and even prescriptions given to members of the royal family; and the Royal Chapel, which is home to a collection of string instruments made by the legendary Antonio Stradivari.

The Royal Armoury and the Painting Gallery

The Royal Armoury is one of the most significant collections of its kind, housing weapons and armour worn by the kings of Spain and other members of the royal family since the 13th century. The Painting Gallery is home to a large number of artistic treasures, including Virgin with Child by Luis Morales, Portrait of Isabella the Catholic by Juan de Flandes, Salome with the Head of John the Baptist by Caravaggio and works by such artists as Velázquez, Goya, Federico Madrazo and Sorolla. The mountain resort of Vall de Nuria, situated in Eastern Pyrenees, Spain, is definitely worth a day

trip from Barcelona. A ski resort during the winter months, it is also a nature and hiking haven during spring and summer. Getting to Vall de Nuria on your own is easy by train. Rodalies de Catalunya – the regional railway system has a direct line (R3) from Placa de Catalunya to Ribes de Freser, where you will then take the mountain rack railway up to Vall de Nuria. The complete journey takes about 2 hours. Rodalies offers a combined ticket which includes both the R3 train and the rack train. The combined ticket called ‘Trenutura Vall de Nuria‘ (two-way) costs 30 euro. You have to purchase the ticket on the day itself at the ticketing counter at Placa de Catalunya or at the earlier stations. The R3 train on this line is from L’Hospitalet de Liobregat to Puigcerda. So, it comes from L’Hospitalet, to Saints, then to Placa de Catalunya. During the early morning peak period, the frequency is about one train every 10 minutes. Placa de Catalunya is very large, so be sure to set out for the Rodalies De Catalunya station (underground) early, as you may not have the most direct access. Not all the Metro stations at Placa de Catalunya have direct access to the Rodalies station. After buying your ticket at the Rodalies station, the R3 platform is at Platform 1, however, do ask for directions at the ticketing counter. Several trains pass through this station. Your train to Ribes de Freser will stop for less than 5 minutes. Take note of your train’s arrival time and look at the overhead electronic signboard for arrival information. Once on board, enjoy the ride to Ribes de Freser, where you get off the train. At Ribes de Freser, walk out of the station toward the Rack Railway station, called Ribes Enllac. If you are early for the next departure (most likely), you can enjoy a cup of coffee at a cafe further down the road. The station master will tear off a portion of your Trenutura ticket. Enjoy your trip up to Vall de Nuria. It is very scenic. The rack train will pass through Ribes Vila, Queralbs then arriving at Vall de Nuria. Enjoy your time at Vall de Nuria. Check out the time of your return train. If you enjoy hiking, you may wish to walk down to Queralbs, along the “Camí Vell” (Old Road). At Queralbs, you will take the rack train to Ribes Enllac, then the R3 train back to Barcelona. • PETRONAS TWIN TOWER coba cek jembatan twin tower, ada petronas park juga di

belakang, Kuala Lumpur dari Sky Bridge (jembatan penghubung kedua menara) di lantai 41 dan observatory deck di lantai 86 dengan membayar tiket masuk sebesar RM84.80 (dewasa) dan RM32 (anak-anak). Bila kamu liburan bersama si kecil, pastikan pula mengunjungi Petrosains di lantai 4. Petrosains merupakan tempat belajar tentang sains dan teknologi dengan cara yang menyenangkan untuk anak-anak. Kamu perlu membayar tiket masuk sebesar RM30 (dewasa) dan RM18 (anak-anak).Spot favorit saya adalah KLCC Park yang terletak di bagian belakang KLCC atau bagian depan Mall Suria KLCC. Ada taman tropis yang rindang, serta danau buatan dengan atraksi air mancur menari. Tak hanya itu, banyak pula pengunjung yang memanfaatkan fasilitas ini untuk berfoto, bersantai, bahkan jogging. Untuk mengakses tour Petronas Twin Tower, kita harus masuk ke menara yang terletak di sebelah kanan pintu Suria KLCC. Atau, kalau kalian sudah telanjur masuk mall, keluarlah dan belok kiri untuk memilih menara yang tepat. Ciri-ciri menara yang tepat itu adalah adanya mobil Formula 1 dari tim Mercedes-Petronas di dekat atap lantai. Nah, di balik mobil tersebut ada

• Sarapan • Ke Genting Highland, bisa dr KL Sentral atau Pudu Sentral.

KL-Central, kami langsung bertanya ke bagian informasi mengenai counter Go-Genting. Ternyata kami harus naik 1 lantai. Dari eskalator kami belok ke kiri, di paling pojok kiri ada counter tiket yang menjual tiket bus straight to Genting Highlands. Penjual tiket menanyakan jam berapa kami akan kembali, dan dengan mudah kami dapat menentukkan waktu pulang dengan melihat papan berisi jadwal bus Go-Genting kembali ke KL Sentral di sore hari. We pick bus at 10.30 am to go from KL Central-Genting, and bus at 5.00 pm to come back from Genting to KL Central.
