BEFORE THE BELL Stock futures pointed to a higher opening for Canada's main stock index as U.S. oil prices soared to a two-year high with North American markets tightening on the partial closure of the Keystone pipeline. A day after the U.S. Thanksgivings holiday, stock fu- tures in the United States edged higher, with retail shares likely to be in focus as Black Friday kicks off the holiday shopping sea- son. European shares held steady, supported by gains in heavyweight consumer goods companies, while Japan's Nikkei recouped early losses and ended slightly up. A robust growth outlook for Europe pushed the euro higher against the U.S. dollar. Gold dipped on profit booking. STOCKS TO WATCH • Noranda Income Fund (NIF_u). The United Steelworkers said on Thursday it reached a tentative agreement with Noranda Income Fund on a new labor deal for 371 striking workers at a zinc refinery in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec. Zinc output at the plant, oper- ated by a subsidiary of Glencore, had dropped to 50 to 60 percent of normal operating levels during the strike, which began on Feb. 12. Workers, who walked off the job over proposed pension-plan changes, will vote on the agreement on Saturday, the union said. Contract details were not disclosed.
