Please finalise these payments this week. Thank you. START COLLECTING YOUR STICKERS NOW Eisteddfod Excitement: I spent this morning along with many of our parents and those from other Broken Hill schools witnessing the junior and senior choirs at the Eisteddfod. What a magnificent showcase of talented students led by talented and dedicated teachers from across the town. Although I attempted to remain fair minded and without bias it was very difficult. It was clearly evident all schools were there for the tradition and fun of performance and did their schools and teachers proud. There was quite a variety of songs in the performances and I was truly excited for the Junior Choir when it was announced that they had come second in their competition. I saw them as they were leaving and they were so proud of themselves. Our Senior Choir then sang the house down – a true choral performance and they looked and sounded professional. It would have been hard to deny them first place, after such an exceptional performance. The adjudicator then announced that Morgan Street Senior Choir won the perpetual trophy donated by the Broken Hill Philharmonic Orchestra. Congratulations to the students and the teachers who put so much into todays preparations and performance. On another note for Creative Arts please take note of the link (in blue) on the next page of the newsletter. It will allow you to purchase tickets for the Far West Talent Festival which will showcase many of the regions schools in one extravaganza. This concert will be held on three occasions over two days and if this morning is an indication it will be fantastic. P&C meeting tonight: with our fete creeping closer and Father’s day breakfast even closer there will be plenty to discuss. All are welcome to come and have a say at 7.00 pm in the staff common room. Today a P&C fundraiser catalogue will be coming home. Flicking through it I can see there are many early Christmas present ideas to be considered. We also have an entry form for the SILVER CITY GARDEN CLUB 2015 Competition, available at the front office for all those keen gardeners. The general section closing date is 2nd September and roses closing on 1st October 2015. Chisholm Bloch ENROLMENTS FOR 2016 We are currently accepting kindergarten enrolments for 2016. If you have children ready to start kindy in 2016, please visit our main office and pick up an enrolment form. Orientation sessions for our new kindergarten students are planned for early Term 4. ABSENCES Please ensure all absence notes are passed on to the class teacher. Parent/caregivers need to supply an absence note after ringing the school. NOTES AND MONEY All notes and money for school activities such as sport, choir etc are to go to the class teacher. Thank you to all the families that have paid their student’s contributions. prepared at the last minute and did a beautiful job
with Mrs Dougherty conducting and Mrs Harris
accompanying them on the piano.
2GK recited their Eisteddfod poem and did a
fantastic job remembering such a long poem.
They used lots of expression and portrayed their
characters convincingly.
The Library Monitors read a favourite bedtime
story under the covers at night with a light - a
habit many students might be guilty of!
Mrs Winders spoke about our new automated
library system, Oliver, which was established in
our library this week and is the library searching
tool that all students will need to learn about in
the coming weeks. The P&C were also thanked
for their fundraising efforts for our library this
year as it is their major fundraising focus for 2015.
Another new feature in our library this term is an
online book catalogue, Redgum Book Club, that
we are trialling.

Lifeline Broken Hill celebrates National Op Shop Week
National Op Shop Week 2015 will take place from Sunday Aug 23rd to Aug 30th. National Op Shop week is an event that
everyone in Broken Hill can take part in. It starts at home. Doing a spring clean, decluttering your wardrobe and donating
unwanted items to the Lifeline Broken Hill Op Shop, you’re doing your part in helping the Broken Hill community.
Lifeline Broken Hill relies heavily on the income derived from the Op Shop in order to continue to deliver free services and
programs to the community. So during National Op Shop Week we encourage everyone to take some time and go through
their household and donate goods and items that they no longer need or come and fossick through the Lifeline shop for
some retail therapy for a good cause. To celebrate National Op Shop Week, all pre-loved winter clothing is now HALF
price.
All proceeds stay locally helping local people in need.
