Five Generations of Italian Passion History The Morelli family has been making ice cream for five generations to a trademark recipe which was introduced into the UK in 1907, when Giuseppe Morelli, after emigrating from Italy, started selling it from the back of his bicycle. In 1932 the original ice cream parlour was opened by his son on the seafront in Broadstairs, Kent, becoming the first to serve over 20 flavours of ice cream. This parlour still proudly serves loyal customers today. Family run We, as a family, have been making ice cream for almost 100 years. We are a heritage brand, we have years of experience, we know everything there is to know about our product. This does not come easily – it has been achieved through generations of hard work, long hours and dedication to a product that we love. Our family name is on this brand – we care about how it is perceived and have done so for five generations. Quality The quality of our product is ensured in two ways: i) we use the best ingredients available and ii) we make our product fresh daily. Many people are not familiar with the difference between this and a product which has been deep frozen for months, yet it is one of the main reasons that our ice cream tastes so different. We train all our ‘gelatiere’ (the Italian word for ‘ice cream chef’) to ensure they are able to produce gelato in this quintessentially Italian way. In addition to the quality of our ice cream, each ingredient we use – from our toppings to our nuts, has been carefully sourced to ensure the best quality all round. Italian We like the typical warmth and generosity of Italian hospitality to be transmitted to our customers in the service we give them. The most famous ice cream brands in the world are American.
