To be eligible for one of these prestigious scholarships, applicants must meet the following qualifications: 1. Be unconditionally admitted to MSU as an entering freshman or as a transfer student with less than 24 total semester hours 2. Be a legal resident of Kentucky 3. Have an ethnic background of one of the following: Hispanic/Latino, African American, American Indian or Alaskan Native, Asian, or Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander 4. Have a minimum ACT composite score of 18 or higher (or SAT combined score of 860 or higher) 5. Have an admission index of at least 500 6. Submit a completed Undergraduate Admissions Application Packet (admission application form, applicable transcript(s) and test scores (ACT or SAT) and a completed Diversity Opportunity Scholarship Application post marked by the December 1, 2018 priority deadline. Applicants should submit their application materials as early as possible to ensure consideration, as funds are limited for these attractive, highly-competitive scholarships. Kentucky students who meet the criteria will first be considered for the Commonwealth Scholarship. Recipients of the Diversity Opportunity Scholarship will be selected after the December 1, 2018 application deadline has passed. All applicants will be notified in writing of their application status after final review of applications has been completed. Please note that finalists will be called for an interview. The Diversity Opportunity Scholarship may be received for a total duration of 8 consecutive semesters if the recipient maintains a minimum cumulative 3.00 MSU GPA, maintains continuous fulltime enrollment with MSU for fall and spring semesters, participates in required programs accompanying this scholarship (DREAMS and SMART Recruitment Team), and satisfies the University’s on-campus residency policy.

Resume: Attach a detailed resume. This should include: - Leadership roles you have held at your high school or in your community, including your
responsibilities in the position(s)- Awards and recognitions (YMCA Black Achievers Program, Governor’s Scholars Program,
Governor’s School of the Arts, Rogers Scholars, etc) with a brief description of each- Any advanced courses (AP, Honors, IB, etc) and/or college course work you have completed

Letter of Recommendation: Submit one letter of recommendation from your principal, teacher, guidance counselor, coach, professional mentor, or community leader. The letter of recommendation must at least one page in length and should comment on the applicant’s character, integrity, intellectual ability, and the like. Family members and personal friends may not provide letters of recommendation. Recommenders must submit their letter on letterhead in a sealed envelope with their name written across the seal. The letter of recommendation must be at least a typed page in length.
