Experience and Aims

In 1999, with a long research career in toxicological pathology behind me, Idecided with a number of colleagues to establish an international organization topromote cancer prevention in the countries of Asia, the result being the Asian PacificOrganization for Cancer Prevention (APOCP) and its official journal the Asian PacificJournal of Cancer Prevention (APJCP).

Following production of an IntroductoryVolume, the journal was issued firstas a quarterly for nine years then bimonthly in 2010, and monthly in 2011/2012, withmyself as the individual responsible for practical aspects of publication. The journal isindexed on PubMed and all the papers are freely available as pdf files from ourwebsite (www.apjcpcontrol.org).Itis also on the Science Citation Index (Expanded)list of journals with an Impact Factor for 2010 of 1.24 and for 2011 of 0.66.

From 2006 until very recently I was employed as Head of the UICC, AsianRegional Office, with the task of assisting where possible in promoting cancer controlactivities in the Asian-Pacific while acting as Chief Editor of the APJCP. This hasincluded assisting other organizations in staging cancer congresses, including theICCC-4 in November 2011, the 6th APOCP General Assembly in April 2012 and anumber of Conferences to be staged in 2013 and 2014. Now my main activity isfocused on the journal, primarily because of the increase in work burden with risingsubmissions. In addition, as adjunct Professor I continue to lay stress on teachingcommitments in the area of epidemiology research and scientific English languageuse, most recently in Astana Medical University, Kazakhstan, and Khon KaenUniversity, Thailand.
