INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Moonstruck, a collection of ten sensuous knit patterns that fit size Small through 5X… no really… they fit. Moonstruck is one of those projects that makes me proud to be a designer. Seeing the completed pieces on our models has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my (relatively young) design career. I sincerely hope you love these garments as much as I do since it was you, the maker and wearer of those designs that I had in my mind the whole time.

Priority #1 was to create beautiful garments. Priority #1a was to make sure those garments looked good on the sizes we said they would look good on. Fashion is not the exclusive domain of any particular body type. ALL women deserve to look FAB and feel special in their clothes. If you create one of our garments and feel a sense of accomplishment; if you then wear that garment and feel amazing; we will consider that a job well done.

As you peruse this lookbook with it’s exquisite designs, be aware that it also contains clickible links. Clicking on the name of the yarns used in a project will take you to the Mango Moon website page for that yarn where you can order it. You can also click on the links found on the back page to purchase the digital version of the pattern book or, if you rather, pre-order your copy of the printed version (to be shipped out by February 15, 2013).

Now, without further ado… we present the lookbook for Moonstruck.

LucianaKnit In Mango Moon Di Lusso YarnShown in Color - MoonlightShown in Size Small and 2X

Page 5: Moonstruck Lookbook

Di Lusso from Mango Moon is a wonderful blend of silk, viscose and nylon. It is incredibly strong and has a subtle sparkle that gives any garment a soft glow.

Page 6: Moonstruck Lookbook

Luciana is made from cuff to cuff with the bottom ribbing added in the round after seaming up the side. The dolman-style sleeves and subtle curve of the neckline work perfectly with the gentle structure of the ribbing to create a garment that moves beautifully on the body and looks FAB on so many body types.

LarissaKnit In Mango Moon Di Lusso YarnShown in Colors -Midnight, and Desert SkyShown in Sizes Small and 4X

Larissa is constructed in one piece from the bottom up to the armholes with the back and front panels then worked separately and joined at the shoulder. The beautiful cable and lace pattern of the body is echoed in the three-quarter length sleeves. A contrasting section of stockinette stitch in the upper arms adds a gentle shaping to the flattering bell sleeves.

Each pattern in Moonstruck has been graded and tested to provide excellent fit for every size in which they are written. From sizes Small through 5X, your finished project will be a garment you are proud to wear.

DevaKnit In Mango Moon Bulu YarnShown in Color - CopperShown in Size Small

Made from Mango Moon Yarn’s Bulu, this oversized poncho-style top with cowl neck is one of the favorites among the models. The movement of the body with the flattering details of the cowl neck and sleek sleeves make Deva a comfortable classic you will wear time and time again.

CordeliaKnit In Mango Moon Bijou YarnShown in Colors -Amethyst, and SapphireShown in Sizes Small and 2X

Cordelia is sure to become your go-to sweater. The comfy crew neck and stylish three-quarter length sleeves are flattering on the body while the oversized cable pattern is beautiful and fun to stitch up. You’re going to want this one in a few different colors.

Page 15: Moonstruck Lookbook

Mango Moon Yarn’s Bijou is made from 100% recycled materials and, as far as we are concerned, a little magic. While standing up to strong stitch patterns like the cables in Cordelia, the initial softness of our knitted fabrics is enhanced after washing or blocking. The result is a garment that feels like that favorite sweater you have had for years.

DioneKnit In Mango Moon Dreadlocks YarnShown in Color - NaturalShown in Size Small

Dreadlocks was our first choice in creating Dione. The thick and thin yarn looks so inviting in the purl ridges of the stitch pattern and the ribbing is so soft and gentle. Once you put this piece on, you won’t want to take it off.

Page 17: Moonstruck Lookbook

Mango Moon Yarn’s Dreadlocks is a luscious, thick and thin merino wool yarn. You will fall in love with this yarn at first touch but then you will be swept off your feet by the utterly decadent silky texture this amazing yarn takes on after blocking.

Page 18: Moonstruck Lookbook

Dione is truly an amazingly versatile piece for your wardrobe. Uptown, downtown, out of town; jeans and boots, flats or killer heels; a night out or a night in with a fire in the hearth; There are so many possibilities… we can’t wait to see what you come up with.

ChandraKnit In Mango Moon Nirvana YarnShown in Colors -Wine, & Delta Blue Shown in Sizes Small and 3X

I really love this drape-front cardi; I find the lines feminine and flattering on every woman regardless of shape and size. In Chandra, I utilize two vertical stitch patterns that show off the naturally occurring horizontal striping of Mango Moon Yarn’s Nirvana. The result is a stunning cardi that looks great on every woman who puts it on. Honestly… I am jealous every time one of the models puts this one on…

Page 20: Moonstruck Lookbook

Each skein of Mango Moon Yarn’s Nirvana is handspun using recycled fibers and retains the beautiful colors of the saris and sarongs the fibers came from. No two skeins are exactly alike. The resulting fabrics are truly stunning.

BiancaKnit In Mango Moon Bulu YarnShown in Colors -Sandstone/Cobalt, and GraphiteShown in Sizes Small and 2X

One of the fun parts of designing is playing with construction, texture, and color. My original sketches for this design were of a color-blocked garment and evolved to take that concept one step further into “lace blocking.” The front and back panels use a solid broken rib pattern and the

sides feature a lace pattern that echo the vertical ribs

of the front panels. The side panels are constructed in one

piece from the bottom up, front and back shoulders worked separately, then the shoulders joined. The front panels and sleeves are then sewn into place. The result is a visually stunning lace top with no side seams.

Whether you work in color blocking or in one solid color, Bulu by Mango Moon Yarns adds a depth of color that really enhances the finished fabric of this design

Elara

This tank is a quick project knit in the round from the bottom up with the front and back shoulders and necklines worked separately. A quick three-needle bind off at the shoulders is all the finishing you will need. Weave in a few ends and you have a new staple for your wardrobe. Special attention has been paid to the front and back necklines as well as the armholes to ensure comfortable wearing without shoulders that slip around. From top to bottom, this piece sits comfortably and looks FAB on your body.

What started as a simple tank that was intended to help round out the designs in this book quickly turned into a very special piece when we decided to make that simple tank in Mango Moon Yarn’s sumptuous Silk Ribbon.

LedaKnit In Mango Moon Bijou YarnShown in Colors - Pearl, and Emerald Shown in Sizes Small and 3X

This beautiful tank-style top includes some of my favorite design details. From the lace side panels to the little “butterfly” twist stitches, this tank is both elegant and easy for any woman to wear.

Page 31: Moonstruck Lookbook

Leda is knit in the round from the bottom up to the armholes where the front and back shoulders and

neckline are worked separately back and forth in rows. We

knew Bijou was a given for this design to really bring

out the intricate stitch details while remaining comfortable and very wearable. This is another

“one in every color” piece.

PortiaKnit In Mango Moon Mantra YarnShown in Color - Purple/PurpleShown in Size Small

There is something timeless about a long vest. Portia starts with three panels for the fronts and back then all three are joined across one row forming side vents for ease of wear and movement; the body panel is then worked in one piece up to the armholes where the back and front panels are worked separately; the only finishing is a three-needle bind off at the shoulder seams. Easy details like the garter stitch side faux seams and the toggles with twisted tab closures add a touch of customization and style.

Page 33: Moonstruck Lookbook

Mango Moon Yarn’s Mantra is the cousin of Nirvana seen in Chanrda. Mantra brings cotton to the party and the colors are vibrant and varied from the recycled sarong materials that make up part of the yarn’s structure. The cotton adds just a little bit of fullness and structure that we really loved for this design.
