1. Home Page – Green navigation tabs at the top and ‘blocks’ with green headers down the

left and right hand side of the page, enable navigation to key areas of the website. Some

blocks will only appear on certain pages. To see all blocks go back to the Home Page.

2. Clicking the email button takes you to the Microsoft Outlook 365 login page. Every student

has a school email address (username) in the following format:

[email protected] (number of year started in Year 7 – initial – surname -

@canterbury.kent.sch.uk)

To login type in your username and your password (this will be issued at the beginning of the

September term in Year 7. Emails can then be accessed from this web address from

anywhere with an internet connection.

3. The Student Intranet has links and information for all students, i.e. an interactive copy of the

Enrichment Brochure showing all clubs and activities for the current term, competitions,

house system information, rewards and competitions including special events happening

within the school.

4. Exams – All information for students regarding exams can be found here including

timetables, hints, tips and guidance on how to cope with exams in general, rules and

regulations and any forms and information for parents.

Campus. Information on Sports, Performing Arts, Clubs and Activities and trips can also be

found on the main Academy website on: www.canterbury.kent.sch.uk.

8. ‘Windows Shares’ block

The ‘Windows Shares’ block on the left hand side of

the Home Page enables access to the main school

network.

‘My Home Directory’ enables access to students’

‘My Documents’ area and the ‘Student Shared’

enables access to all of the resources on the

Student Shared Drive.

Documents saved in My Documents can be accessed from home by downloading through

Moodle via the ‘My Home Directory’ link and re-uploaded when completed. This is a very useful

feature of Moodle allowing access to all students’ working resources from outside of school.

9. Subject areas and courses.

The coloured blocks allow quick access to

all of the courses within the various subject

areas. Each student can only access

courses that they are studying.

10. Courses

Under the coloured blocks quick links to each subject being studied are

listed. Clicking on the link takes you directly to a page displaying the

Learning Practice and relevant resources for that subject.

11. MIS Integration

Timetables, Attendance, Achievements &

Behaviour

The MIS block links with the main database

providing information on students’ timetables,

attendance, achievement and behaviour records.

Clicking on the Welcome link displays personal

profile details, daily timetable, mentoring session,

and achievement records.

Secure login ensures that only data for the user

logging in is displayed. Access to any other

students’ data is prohibited.

Moodle is a powerful tool to support students’ learning and enable ease of access to both the

curriculum and services within The Canterbury Academy.

Moodle will be launched to parents in the 2013-2014 academic year. Each parent will receive a

unique login and password. Parents will then have the opportunity to view information on their own

child/children’s timetable, attendance, rewards and behaviour, timetables and courses.
