Everything from fibers to finishing, if it’s about warmth, we want it in this issue. Let’s talk about the warmest fibers: What makes them warm? What does crimp have to do with warming things up, length, diameter? How about non-protein fibers? Are any particularly warm? Of course, we can’t talk about warmth without talking about prep. Which is the best preparation if you’re looking to increase the heat factor? Can a preparation make a traditionally cooler fiber warmer? Does it matter if you use a blending board, a drum carder, or hand cards? What about drafting? Which draft and why? How exactly can we combine all of the above to make the warmest yarn ever? And once we have a yarn, what’s the warmest weave structure? Where do warmth and durability intersect for sweaters? Socks? Hats? Maybe you want to focus on warming the spirit and soul: community and craft and family and hot tea with friends and coffee with spinning cohorts. If it warms your body, mind, spirit, hands, toes, or heart, send us a proposal! Article and project proposals are due by December 1, 2019. We’ll get back to you in March 2020, and final pieces are due June 1, 2020. Thanks, Jacey
