Haridwar Conference on 27, 28 & 29.3.2014

Senior Citizens Council of Delhi organised Conference of Senior Citizens on “Graceful Ageing with Holistic Health” in association with A.R.S.P. at Niskam Seva Trust, Haridwar on 27, 28 & 29 March 2014. The Council paid 50% of the cost towards registration lodging & boarding by motivating participation of 75 members of the Council. Chief Guest was Acharya Bal Krishan, General Secretary of Patanjali Yog Peeth, Haridwar.

Annual General Body meeting of Confederation of Senior Citizens Associations of Delhi (An umbrella body of 11 lakhs) would be held on 30.04.2014 from 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm at Azad Bhawan Auditorium followed by Conference on “Ageing Issues” from 4.45 pm to 5.45 pm & Kavi Samelan from 6 pm to 7 pm followed by refreshments. Chief Guest would be Dr. Karan Singh, MP., Guest of Honour Sh. Satish C. Mehta, Director General, I.C.C.R. There would also be talks on eyes & Joints by Dr. Sammer Sud & Prof. Dr. Anil Arora respectively during the Conference. Sh. Annual General Body Meeting of Confederation on 30.4.2014

At present, no Government is interested to solve the problems and demands of Senior Citizens. Even National Policy 2011 for Senior Citizens has not been implemented. Health Care in elderly is a reflection of genetic endowment life style and the environment in which one lives. So health promotion and disease prevention are

Exchange Visit of Mauritius Delegation Between 4th & 9th April, 2014

The members were also taken around to Rashtrapati Bhawan, Mugal Garden. Interaction with Senior Citizen Association, Tagore Garden & Seminar organized on Ageing Issues. The Members were also had a study visit at Parliament of India & Delhi Vidhan Sabha & met Sh. M. S. Dhir, Speaker. A cultural programme was also organized in Azad Bhawan Auditorium in the honor of Delegation members in which 500 Senior citizens participated across Delhi in association with Sanatan Dharm Sabha. A Felicitation cum Reception function was organized at Daily Activities Center at Deer Park in which Dr. A.K. Jaggesur, High Commissioner of Mauritius in India was the Chief Guest. Exchange of views on various issues concerning Senior Citizens of both the Countries were also expressed in the Seminar & each side came to know what facilities & benefits are being extended by both the Governments to their Senior Citizens. An interaction session was also organized on the awareness of Cancer. The fore fathers of Delegation members were migrated to Mauritius about 200 years back mostly from Bihar, U.P., Maharashtra, West Bengal etc. At present, the Govt. of Mauritius is headed by Sh. Naveen Chandra Ram Goolam, Prime Minister. The Members were also tried to trace their roots in India but could not find any clue in spite of best efforts.
