Karl Barth was a famous philosopher who spent many years studying the Scriptures. He was once asked, “What is the greatest theological discovery you have ever made?”

He thought and said simply, “Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.”

Can you remember where you were the first time you heard those words? I can’t, because, quite honestly, I don’t remember not knowing it. The words are sung by children literally all over the world, and frankly, I do not know a message more needed by every child, and adult, than those simple words with the life changing message, Jesus Loves Me This I Know, For

The Bible Tells Me So.

Jesus Himself said, “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:12-13).

Can you imagine that? Jesus loves me! ~ copied

I’m really enjoying my time working with the Strategic Planning Team members, as we look toward the future of our work together here at Williamstown Christian Church, and to the upcoming study of The Story in our Sunday messages and Sunday School, however the success of this program will be largely based upon everyone’s getting involved. This morning I traveled to Louisville to pick up some of the material for The Story, and was shocked when two Canadian geese walked out in front of my car as I was pulling out of the driveway at Southeast Christian Church. Then I remembered a story that someone told me about geese and the importance of working together. We have all seen the beautiful scene in the spring or the fall of the V shaped formation of Canadian geese flying north or south. They speak of the change of the season, but also of the value of team work. Many don’t realize that when a goose becomes sick, or is wounded, it never falls from the formation alone. Two other geese will fall out of the formation with it and follow the ailing goose to the ground. One of them is very often the mate of the hurt bird; since geese mate for life they are extremely loyal to their mates. Once on the ground, the healthy birds will help protect and care for the ailing goose, sometimes even throwing themselves between the weakened bird and possible predators. They will stay with their fallen friend until he is either able to fly, or until he dies. Then and only then, will they launch out on their own or connect up with another flock of geese that happens to fly by. If only we as human beings would care for one another as well as geese do. We need to learn to stick close to our friends, and more importantly stick by them. The writer of Hebrews tells us in Hebrews 10:25 Let us

not give up meeting together as some are in the habit of doing,

but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the

day approaching.

A wise man once said, “Remember the banana: when he got separated from the bunch he got skinned.”

See you on Sunday!

Christ the Lord is risen

today, Alleluia!

Sons of men and angels

say, Alleluia!

Raise your joys and tri-

umphs high, Alleluia!

Sing, ye heavens and earth,

reply, Alleluia!

Lives again, our glorious

King, Alleluia!

Where, O death, is now

thy sting? Alleluia!

Once He died our souls to

save, Alleluia!

Where thy victory, O

grave? Alleluia!

The sign of new life outside is something I have been waiting on. We have had basically no winter, and believe it or not I need to mow. Don’t know if I have ever had to mow this early in the year, but I don’t mind. I love this time of year seeing the grass begin to turn green, the flowers and trees beginning to bud, and feeling the warmth of the sunshine – all the signs that spring is here and summer is right around the corner. A few dates for everyone to mark on your calendar. The first will be our Family Fun Night on Wednesday, April 4. We will meet in the fellowship hall for a meal, and then end the evening coloring eggs for our Easter egg hunt. The egg hunt will be at the Brill’s home (weather permitting) on the morning of Saturday,

April 7. Our Family Fun Night will begin at 6:00 p.m.; and our egg hunt will begin at 10:30 a.m.. There are sign-up sheets in the foyer of the church; I need everyone who is planning on attending either event to please sign up so we will be able to prepare for both events.

The last date I would like to leave you with is for

Vacation Bible School. VBS this year will be June 24

through June 28. More information and sign-up sheets

will be available in the near future.

Until next time………………………

I want to start off by saying thank you to everyone who participated in the Spring Fiesta Family Reunion and Fundraiser on March 25. Through the pledges, we were able to raise over $500! I appreciate all the support and encouragement this church provides and I know the teens are very thankful as well! I also want to thank the kids who pied me! They did a very thorough job making sure every inch of my head was covered! Special thanks to Cody McClelland and Eric Spohr for being such good sports too. April starts off with a bang as the high school seniors and I will be headed to Carter Caves over Spring Break! Senior year can be a very stressful time for seniors and we wanted to give them an opportunity to relax and have fun. We will also be studying God’s Word and talking about remaining faithful as they enter the next phase of their lives. Other things to look forward to in April include Easter, the kids Easter Egg Hunt at the Brills’, and Youth Sunday on the April 29. As we have officially entered spring, we know that summer is right around the corner. A lot of great things planned for the youth this summer. Keep an eye out for the following:

Jr/Sr High King’s Island Day (June 6) Family Red’s Game (June 14)

VBS (June 24-28), High School CIY (July 9-14), and

Jr. High Camp Northward (July 22-27). More information will come when we get closer to summer. In His Grip, Micah Montecalvo

Jane had a system for labeling homemade freezer meals. She would carefully note in large clean letters, “Meatloaf” or “Pot Roast” or “Steak and Vegetables” or “Chicken and Dumplings” or “Beef Pot Pie.” Every day when she asked her husband what he wanted for dinner, he never asked for any of those meals. She decided to stock the freezer with his various requests, what he really likes. In Jane’s freezer now you’ll see a whole new set of labels. You’ll find dinners with neat little tags that say, “Whatever,” “Anything,” “I Don’t Know,” “I Don’t Care,” “Something Good,” or “Food.” No more frustration for Jane because no matter what her husband replies when she asks him what he wants for dinner, it’s there waiting

The Senior Saints of WCC recently enjoyed a wonderful day in Lexington at Windy Corner Market, followed by shopping for antiques in Georgetown. April’s trip will be to West Chester Ohio. We will visit Ikea for a morning of shopping, followed by lunch (to be determined soon). Please check your bulletin

for date and departure time.

Two overnight trips are planned for the near fu-ture. Please check your bulletin for dates, or contact Lorrie for more information. And remember - you don’t have to be a senior or a saint to attend.

As we prepare for a study of the Word of God, with all of us “on the same page,” we are also preparing for a greater outreach to the lost, both here and in lands far away.

The entire church is supporting Steve and Ruthie Mann who will be leaving for Spain as soon as they receive their visas. There they will be working with

Muslim immigrants from North Africa where the Mann’s previously served. (An update as soon as work begins there.)

Also each Sunday-school class is sponsoring a missions project. Missionaries in India and in Columbia, South America; our Bible colleges; Camp Northward; Grundy Mountain Missions; local benevolent projects; and others. (Details later.)

What an exciting time as we delve deeper into God’s Word and obey the Lord’s command to take His gospel to all the world. --Ruth Odor
