Scottnews MONTHLY NEWSLETTER OF SCOTT METHODIST CHURCH
MARCH 2015
Pastor’s Corner
By Rev. Richard Hasley
“Now the length of time the Israelite people
lived in Egypt was 430 years, at the end of the 430
years, to the very day, all the LORD’S divisions left
Egypt. Because the LORD kept vigil that night to
bring them out of Egypt, on this night all the
Israelites are to keep vigil to honor the LORD for
the generations to come.” (Exodus 12:40-42)
As we enter the month that welcomes spring,
we look forward to the warmer weather, the
greening of the grass and trees, perhaps even a
few flowers popping up in a few weeks. Do you
know a word that describes all those wonderful
things? Change.
We like things to be ordered. Predictable.
Safe. The Hebrews felt that way as well. But, if
they had not listened to Moses and embraced
change, even if it was scary and unpredictable,
they would have remained slaves forever.

If Abraham had not obeyed
the leading of God and left
his ancestral home, we would
never have heard of him and
he would never have become
the father of a nation.
Change can be very good, as
long as God is in the change.
What is God leading you
to change? Perhaps it is
finally putting Him first, and
making Him the LORD of
your life. Perhaps it is
inviting that person that’s
been on your mind to church.
Perhaps it is joining the choir
or volunteering in a ministry.
Whatever it may be, if God is
prompting you, do it!
Embrace the change,
knowing the LORD is with
you and has something
wonderful I mind. See you in
church!

SWIM News The ladies have had a busy
February getting started on the
cookbook, delivering Valentine Shut-
In bags and serving the Valentine
Dinner. Many thanks again to the
ladies that stepped up and helped,
and to George Poole, Chuck Howell,
Rick McCann and Pastor Richard.
The ladies will be serving the lunch
for the March 7th Spring District
meeting here at Scott Church. We
have also been asked to serve the
Retired Teachers Luncheon on May
15.
Please note, Scott Women will
not be having a Yard-Bake Sale this
June. We have put this on hold for a
year.
Please continue to keep the ladies
in prayer as they come to do the
Lords work.
God Bless, Scott Women In

Preschool News Announcements
During the month of February, the children
learned the letters, V, H and B. They had their
valentine’s party and learned about the parts
of their bodies. We have experienced many
snow days and two hour delays. On March
2nd, Dr. Jones will visit with the students and
talk to them about keeping their bodies
healthy. During the month of March the
children will be learning the letters D, C, G
and E. Their themes will be Dr. Seuss, St.
Patrick’s Day and Easter. They will also learn
the bible story of Daniel and the lions as well
as the meaning of Easter. The children will be
singing in church on Sunday, March 29th
during the morning worship service. The
preschool is hoping the winter weather is

SWAT NEWS & HE’S ALIVE
Hello again everyone and God bless you!
A lot of news to report to you this month as the youth has been very busy. We’ve been
practicing a lot for He’s Alive this year. We meet every Sunday in Wheeling to practice for
the big production on March 27-29th. This year we have many youth participating like usual
and they are excited to do the outreach.
In addition to this event we have all of our regular scheduled SWAT meetings on Thursdays.
We are getting ready for our Spring and Summer activities too. This would include things
like: fundraisers, Faith Ranch trip, King’s Island trip, VBS, and some concert opportunities.
I find it difficult to try and inform you every month what we’re doing because it seems more
and more things pop up that we’re participating in. The young soldiers of SWAT are
continuing to grow in number and in spirit. They try very hard to bring in their peers and
show them the Love of God. I couldn’t be more proud of this youth group!!!
I also want to take this time to thank the youth sponsors that help me on Thursdays and
through all of our events. I just couldn’t manage SWAT without them. Thank you
