The 19 th century’s most famous and impactful Pastor, Charles Spurgeon, once said that “Every Christian is either a missionary or an impostor.” It is a quote that often makes us itch under the collar, because it hits us right where we live, in the day to day journey of our lives. But what I want you to understand is that Spurgeon was not saying that we all have to travel half-way around the world on a church sponsored mission trip to a group of people that don’t even speak our language. What he was saying is that if you truly are a Christian, you should already be on a mission trip right now, wherever God has planted you. That, of course, doesn’t mean that we don’t do regional, national, and international mission activities, because that would be foolish and unbiblical. Personally, I’ve seen that a church’s light that can be seen burning far away, naturally burns brighter at home! What it does mean, however, is that we need to live our lives right here and right now, as if we are on the mission field, because Jesus Christ says that we are! Have you ever considered what most people do on mission trips? They serve by building, repairing, or cleaning-up church facilities, just like we do here at Grace. They conduct ministry activities such as VBS, AWANA, and Bible Studies, just like we do here at Grace. And, they share the Gospel with people they meet “as they are going” (Matt. 28:19), just like we do here at Grace. Beloved, as we approach the end of the first year of volunteer Church Cleaning & Grass Cutting Ministries, as we wrap up another successful AWANA season, and gear up for another incredible Vacation Bible School, I want you to know that the service you are giving to God right now in Children’s Church, Nursery, Sunday School, AWANA, VBS, MOP’s, Cleaning, Mowing, Singing, and a host of other daily and weekly activities makes you a Missionary!!! The 19th century’s most famous
and impactful Pastor, Charles
Spurgeon, once said that “Every
Christian is either a missionary or
an impostor.” It is a quote that
often makes us itch under the
collar, because it hits us right
where we live, in the day to day
journey of our lives. But what I
want you to understand is that
Spurgeon was not saying that we
all have to travel half-way
around the world on a church
sponsored mission trip to a group
of people that don’t even speak
our language. What he was
saying is that if you truly are a
Christian, you should already be
on a mission trip right now,
wherever God has planted you.
That, of course, doesn’t mean
that we don’t do regional,
national, and international
mission activities, because that
would be foolish and unbiblical.
Personally, I’ve seen that a
church’s light that can be seen
burning far away, naturally burns
brighter at home! What it does
mean, however, is that we need to live our lives right
here and right now, as if we are
on the mission field, because
Jesus Christ says that we are!
Have you ever considered
what most people do on mission
trips? They serve by building,
repairing, or cleaning-up church
facilities, just like we do here at
Grace. They conduct ministry
activities such as VBS, AWANA,
and Bible Studies, just like we do
here at Grace. And, they share
the Gospel with people they
meet “as they are going” (Matt.

Beloved, as we approach the
end of the first year of volunteer
Church Cleaning & Grass Cutting

Summer is on the way
so that means we are
finishing up in AWANA
and gearing up for
VBS! It’s been a great
AWANA year with a
high attendance of 62,
and the average
attendance of 45
children each
Wednesday night!!
This year in VBS, we will
be running “The
Incredible Race”, and
exploring South
America, Asia, Africa,
Europe and North
America!
Over the next several
weeks, Children’s
Church partners will be
teaching the
Beatitudes. What a
wonderful opportunity
for your child to learn
more about the values
Christ cares about.
Jesus said, “let the little
children come to me
and do not hinder
them for the kingdom
of heaven belongs to
such as these”.
Children’s Ministry is
incredibly important!
Please prayerfully
consider where Christ
would have you serve
this year.
Blessings to all,

Thank you to

GBC at the Stuart
Strawberry Festival!
The AWANA Celebration and Picnic & AWANA Grand Prix will be on Sunday, June 2nd. It’s hard to believe that we are about to bring our seventh year of AWANA Clubs at GBC to a close. This also means that it’s time to celebrate! Join us as we honor the hard work of our clubbers and volunteers with a fun slideshow and awards during the Worship service, our second annual AWANA Grand Prix, and a picnic with food and games that we can all enjoy with the clubbers and their families! While AWANA Clubs may have ended for the Summer, we will continue to have our usual Wednesday Fellowship Meals at 5:15pm, Adult Bible Study with Pastor Mark or a Women’s Bible Study with Pam Elkins at 6pm, and Choir Practice at 7:15pm, throughout the month of June. Childcare will be provided. We invite you to join us for a Missions Team meeting in the Fellowship Hall, directly after the service on Sunday, June 9th. Come and find out how YOU can get plugged into Missions in our community and beyond! From all of us at GBC, congratulations to all our high school and college graduates! Join us on Sunday, June 9th, as we recognize our graduates in the church service. Please send Casey Elkins at least 5 pictures of your graduate by Thurs, June 6th for our special slideshow. Be sure to join us for our annual 4th of July Picnic at Dick & Pat East’s house. It will be a fun evening of fellowship, food, games, swimming, horseback-riding, and an amazing fireworks show after dark! Please, contact Pat East if you have any questions.
Note: There will be a very brief 4th of July Picnic Planning Meeting, Sunday, June 16, directly after church in the sanctuary. Please, stay and be a part of planning this wonderful event.

Grab your passport! This
summer, kids will race
from continent to continent.
They'll also discover that, no
matter where we live, what
shade of skin we have, or
what language we speak, we are
all part of the same race—the human
race—and all part of the same family from
Adam and Eve. As they examine the events
surrounding the tower of Babel, kids will
learn that God is calling people from every
tribe and nation through his Son, Jesus
Christ, the Savior of the world, and that he
wants us to share this good news in kindness
and love with our neighbors nearby and far
away.
Kids from the ages of 4-13 are invited to join
us Tuesday, July 16th—Friday, July 19th at
5:45pm-8:30pm, kids can enjoy fun Bible
lessons, crafts, snacks, songs, outdoor
games, and a comedy show every evening!
Pre-Registration for VBS begins Thursday,
June 13th. Then the entire family is invited to
join us on Saturday, July 20th for our VBS/
Community Family Fun Day from 10am-2pm
to finish off our VBS week! This free event is
open to the whole community and all ages,
whether or not your child was in VBS. It’s just
a fun day with songs, a comedy show,
games, a bounce house, face painting,
dunking booth, crafts, emergency vehicles,
balloons, hotdogs, cotton candy, popcorn,
sno-cones, candy, and more! Be sure to
mark your calendars and invite your friends!
VOLUNTEERS: If you will be volunteering for
this year’s VBS, we need you to join us for a
mandatory VBS Volunteer Meeting on
Sunday, June 30th, directly after church. If
you are unable to attend on that date,
there will be Makeup Volunteer Meeting on
the following Sunday, July 7th. Every
volunteer, aged 18 and up, will need a
Background Check if they do not have one
already. Please contact Casey Elkins to
request a Background Check Permission
Form.
