INAUGURAL FUNCTION OF ASSOCIATION OF
ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING STUDENTS
Inaugural ceremony of association of Electronics and communication engineering
students [WAVECE] was organized in S. G. Balekundri Institute of Technology [SGBIT],
Belagavi on Friday (31-8-17).
Mr. Mayoor Patil, Lead Business Analyst, United States of America (USA) in his guest
speech mentioned that, there is no substitute for hard-work, if one wants to shine, he has to burn
like sun and effort never goes waste. Failure is stepping stone for the success; one should face
the failure with patience. Change is inevitable; one should be flexible enough to get adjusted to
the situation and one has to make right choices at right time to achieve the success. Students
should inculcate the good morals and principles in their life. He also discussed the Job and
higher studies opportunities in India and abroad.
Chief Guest Mr. Mayoor Patil delivering speech
Dr. K . Prabhushetty , HOD, ECE in his presidential remarks suggested that up and
downs are common in life. Every student has a unique potential; no one is superior or inferior.
Everyone has different role to play in the progress of the society and each role is equally
important. All the facilities (which are available in the top colleges) are provided to the students,
it is moral responsibility of students to take the college to the next level.
In the same occasion, students were welcomed to the department and fresher’s day was
celebrated. The formal function was followed by cultural activities and games; session was very
entertaining till the last performance. Such events instill a sense of co-operation and togetherness
among the seniors and juniors.
Prof. Veeresh Hiremath welcomed the gathering, Prof. Jagadish Jakati introduced the Chief Guest and Prof. Anita Patil proposed the vote of thanks.
About Association [WAVECE]: WAVECE has been sprouted to bridge the gap between
industry and academics by conducting technical workshops, seminars, group discussions,
aptitude tests which help the students to get updated with the upcoming technologies.

Three Days Workshop on
MICROCHIPS INTERNET OF THINGS (IoT)-AN EXTREME
ENGINEERING
Three days Workshop on “Microchips Internet of Thing(IoT) –An Extreme
Engineering” was inaugurated by Mr.Nitin Awasthi, Vice President -Technical, Apsis
Solutions, Bengarulru on 6th
October 2017 organized by department of E & CE, S. G
Balekundri Institute of Technology, Belagavi. Mr. Nitin Awasthi (Research and development
specialist) in his speech explored the need of the Internet of Things (IoT), its recent innovations
and its applications in various domains like home automation, industrial automation, space
exploration, agriculture, healthcare, the list is endless as day to day more and more devices are
getting connected to the internet. Internet of Things (IoT) brings “intelligence” to the everyday
devices. Imagine you are leaving the office; simply you can start the geyser through Smartphone,
so that water will be heated before reaching the home. You can even monitor the temperature in
your home when you’re away. Similarly all the day to day life home appliances (fan, fridge,
oven, AC, washing machines, lights…) can be controlled smartly hence lot of power can be
saved and also makes life more comfortable and secure. Sooner security guards may replaced by
smart cameras which alert the police in case of break. Most importantly IoT thrives on energy
efficiency. Currently extensive research work is being carried out on IoT and will have
prominent share in the market; hence plenty of job opportunities are available for the graduates.
The function was presided by Principal Dr. S. S. Salimath, in his presidential remarks
mentioned the importance of the of Internet of Things (IoT) and its applications in various domains including domestic, mechanical, health care, civil etc. Also he stressed that how it helps and alleviates life of differently abled persons. Suggested to make best use of this workshop and benefit the society by implementing it in real time.
