I hope everyone had a wonderful summer, and is rested and ready to continue with our fall activities. We always look forward to seeing everyone and hope you can join us for an evening meeting or one of our fundraisers. Please be sure to look carefully through the Echo for all of our upcoming events.

On a different note, I want to thank everyone for their outpouring of LOVE to the Menke Family. Deaen and Jay were overwhelmed by the generosity and thoughtfulness that was given to their family. They are so very grateful for all of the help that the Tall Cedars and Cedarettes from near and far gave to help them secure technology that can help Claire communicate.

I am extremely proud to be part of an organization that gives of themselves so freely to help others.

DuringthispastSummer,agofundmecampaignwasruntoraisemoneytoobtainforClaire,aNueroNode.Thepubliccampaignraisedover$20,000from138differentcontributors.Belowisherstory…Claire’s story is one filled with Amazing Spirit, Rainbow Smile Makers, Minions, and Incredible Perseverance… all in the face of tremendous life and physical challenges.

As many of you know, Claire is continuing her life's journey with Juvenile ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease). As this rare and cruel disease has progressed, her muscles have continued to get weaker and with that, she has sadly lost her voice.

Together, we can help her get it back!

A number of communicating devices and methods have been tried with limited success, and she has been given a recent opportunity to obtain a NueroNode. NeuroNode is the world’s first wearable EMG assistive technology device. It gives those with ALS/MND, spinal cord injury, or any other condition causing paralysis and loss of speech a connection to the world.

While she will likely never be able to speak like she used to, this amazing cutting edge device could help Claire’s “voice” be heard again.
