Oman This is the Southern shore of the

Arabian Peninsula

Oman is where open water sailing developed

“Oman is Everywhere”

Allowed for trade with all countries of the Indian Ocean to commence

The Old Oman represents when “the ocean was neutral.”

The Salt March The Salt March is one of the events

that took place when India was trying to gain independence from Britain

Gandhi led the March in 1930. Thousands followed him 241 miles South to Dandi

The march was in order toprotest a British law: the prohibition of selling salt or collecting it, except by the colonial authorities.

Akbar the Great (1542-1605)

The 3rd Mughal Emoperor

While under Akbar’s rule, the Empire nearly tripled in size

Akbar had formed a very powerful army and created effective social and political reforms

Created a religion known as Din-i-Ilahi, which included the teachings of all the major world religions

Became one of the important figures that helped to create the British Empire in India
