First you need to remove the power cable, signal cable and the stand. To remove the stand pull theplastic cover off and remove the 4 screws.

Now to get to the electronics we will need to separate the .front and back halves of the case. Use a smallflat blade screwdriver inserted between the front and back halves. Start on the bottom surface in caseyou damage the surface. The best place to start is the opposite from the control panel so it does not getdamaged. Once you get the separation started just work your way around all 4 sides. About every fewinches there will be a plastic latch that will release.

After the back case is separated from the front lay the whole unit on a flat surface with a towel under it

to prevent scratches to the display

Next unplug the backlight wires as seen below.

The last cable to release is the panel signal cable as show in the picture below right.

Now flip the electronics assembly over as show. Remove the 4 screws as circled in the picture to theright. With the screws removed the power board will unplug from the driver card and can be fullyseparated from the rest of the parts.

his is the power supply assembly. The parts we will be replacing are circled in yellow. The parts are asfollows:C1 and C302 are 220uf 35vC307 is 1000uf 10vC305 is 2200uf 25vWhen replacing the capacitors be sure to install them with the polarity stripe on the side going thesame direction as the old one comes out. Usually the board will also have one side marked as positive +,

the stripe side is the negative -.

After the parts are replaced just reverse the procedure to reassemble the case. Now apply power andyou should have a fully functional monitor again.

The order that the backlights are plugged in does not matter, all 4 plugs each go to a backlighttube.

Hi,I made the repairs as instructed. But now i have no power. The salesperson sold me an 1000uf 16vand said there was no 10v exists. Could this have anything to to do with the no power situation.Any idea?

admin on Fri, 5th Mar 2010 10:17 pm5.

The capacitors you used are not the correct type. It sounds like you used general purpose capsfrom someplace like Radio Shack, these will damage the power board. Look on our page calledchoosing the correct parts above right and it will explain which brands and series you need touse. The general purpose caps you have used are not low ESR and not high ripple current thatthe power supply needs to function correctly. The salesperson you talked to does not know aboutelectronics repair so they are not familiar with the parts you need. I am sorry that you paid forcaps that are not correctbut if you use the correct ones then the repair will work correctly.

Thanks for the info. I’ll be buying one of your repair kits to insure i have the correct capacitors.

Two questions if you don’t mind-1. Do you have the repair kit for a Westinghouse 17″ model LCM-19v5 – I haven’t taken that one

apart yet so i don’t know the model number of the board. Has the same issue as my other one.

2. Do you sell aluminum tape?

Thanks again for the help.

Thank you so much! I was going insane trying to find the specs on the cap at C302 since it wascovered in that lovely white glue. I figured it was the same as C1 but wanted to be sure before Iordered some caps.

Thanks again! Hopefully I can fix my Acer X193W now.

Jay M on Wed, 5th May 2010 3:43 pm8.

Well.. I ordered parts from MCM, and I got the good quality caps. Installed, and now all I get is asteady blinking blue power light.

I triple checked the cap polarities.

The C305 (2200uf 25V) was too large for the board, so I ran some leads and glued it down like the120uf 400V cap on the other side of the board.

I noticed the newer caps were much larger, but were all electrolytic, and had the exact samecapacitance and voltage rating, so they should work, right?

Hello Jay,

What brand and series capacitors did you use. The replacements need to be High temp which willbe marked 105c, LOW ESR and high ripple current. If they are general purpose caps they willnot work and could damage the board. here is the link to our page discussing the proper ones touse with brands and series number to use. http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/capacitors/

Thank you so much, man you ar the best ! keep it up

David on Mon, 5th Jul 2010 12:50 pm11.

I have one of these monitors and don’t want to bother fixing it…does anyone else want it? I havesince upgraded to a 22″ Samsung which I love, so I no longer need this one. I know that the onlything wrong with it is the backlight. I am willing to give it to a good home for the cost of shippingit to you (unless you live around Rochester, NY and want to meet me someplace) as it is justtaking up space. This monitor is in great shape otherwise, no scratches or dings/dents.

Corey on Tue, 24th Aug 2010 4:26 pm12.

Just wanted to say thanks for keeping me on my budget! The fix worked like a charm, it was veryeasy all around. Selling the kit saved me time and aggravation finding the right caps, and therepair took less than an hour. So glad to have this monitor back, it’s my favorite
