Travel on the world’s longest and most famous rail journey from
Beijing to Moscow and then on to St. Petersburg. Unforgettable.
Day 1 Beijing Arrive Beijing. You will be met by your guide and
transferred by private car to your central 4-star hotel. Overnight
Beijing.
Day 2 Beijing to UlaanbaatarCross the pedestrian overpass, with
guide assistance, to the railway station, to board your train.

Day 3 UlaanbaatarMid-afternoon arrival Ulaanbaatar, the capital
and largest city of Mongolia. It was originally a nomadic Buddhist
centre. You will be met by your guide and taken on a city tour
covering the major landmarks, including Chinggis Square and the
National History Museum. You will then be transferred to your
centrally located hotel. Overnight Ulaanbaatar.
Day 4 Terelj National ParkMeet your guide and driver and visit
the Gandan Monastery ‘Great Place of Complete Joy’, before
travelling 70 km to the Terelj National Park to overnight in a
traditional ger. The park has fascinating rock formations and
scenery with abundant wildlife. Enjoy lunch at the ger camp then
visit a local family living in a traditional ger, see Turtle Rock
and have
time to ride a horse or camel (extra cost). Then free time to
explore the surrounding countryside. Dinner and overnight at the

Day 5 Ulaanbaatar After breakfast, travel back to Ulaanbaatar
via the spectacular Genghis Khan Statue and Monument complex.

Day 6 Khustain Nuruu National ParkToday you have a full day tour
to where the Mongolian government reintroduced the Przewalski’s
horse, the only remaining true wild horse in the world. You’ll take
a walk in the park, see the wild horses grazing, and enjoy lunch at
a ger camp. Overnight Ulaanbaatar. BL
Day 7 Ulaanbaatar to Irkutsk Free time this morning for shopping
for souvenirs from the comprehensive range at the State Department
Store. Purchase some food for your journey and transfer to the
station for your departure. Overnight on train. B
Day 8 Irkutsk & Lake BaikalYou complete border crossing
procedures in the early hours of the morning and arrive in Irkutsk
mid-afternoon. You will be met by your guide and transferred to
your hotel in Listvyanka. Overnight Listvyanka.
Day 9 Lake Baikal & IrkutskThis morning you explore the
lakeside town of Listvyanka, where you’ll visit the Museum of Lake
Baikal and the local fish markets. After lunch at a local
restaurant, explore the Museum of Wooden Architecture at Taltsy and
then transfer to Irkutsk. Overnight Irkutsk. BL
Day 10 Irkutsk After breakfast, you have a city tour of Irkutsk,
the gateway to Lake Baikal. It was
founded in the 17th century as a trading post for gold and furs.
In the early 19th century many Russian artists, officers and
noblemen were exiled there for their part in the Decembrist revolt
against Tsar Nicholas I. Much of the city’s cultural heritage and
architecture stems from that period. Overnight Irkutsk. B
Day 11 Irkutsk to YekaterinbugFree morning to explore
independently. This afternoon, your guide will accompany you to the
rail station to board your train for Yekaterinburg. Overnight on
train. B
Day 12 On board Today you spend the day on the train. The train
has a dining car or you can buy food at one of the stops, but don’t
get left behind! Overnight on train.
Day 13 Yekaterinburg Arrive Yekaterinburg early afternoon and
transfer with guide assistance to your hotel. Enjoy a city tour
including the Church on the Blood. Overnight Yekaterinburg.
Day 14 YekaterinburgToday visit the Monastery on Romanovs’ grave
site as well as the Europe/Asia Divide. Overnight Yekaterinburg.

Day 15 Yekaterinburg to KazanAfter breakfast, your guide will
accompany you to the rail station for your journey
to Kazan. Upon arrival, your local guide will meet and transfer
you to your hotel. Overnight Kazan. B
Day 16 Kazan to Moscow This morning, you have a city tour of
Kazan – the capital of Tatarstan, with over 50 percent of its
population descended from Central Asian tribes. This evening, your
guide will accompany you to the rail station for your journey to
Moscow. Overnight on board. B
Day 17 Moscow Morning arrival Moscow, where you will be met by
your guide and transferred to your centrally located hotel. This
afternoon you will have a city tour, including entrance to the
iconic St. Basil’s Cathedral and a tour of the famous Moscow Metro.

Day 18 MoscowThis morning, enjoy a tour of the Kremlin and
Armoury Museum, part of the Grand Kremlin Palace’s complex.
Afternoon and evening free for optional sightseeing or ballet (ask

Day 19 Moscow to St. PetersburgThe morning is free, until your
transfer with guide assistance to the rail station, for your high
speed train to St. Petersburg where you will be met by your local

Day 20 St. PetersburgAfter breakfast, meet your guide for your
city tour, which includes visits to the Church on Spilt Blood and
Peter and Paul Fortress. Overnight St. Petersburg. B
Day 21 St. Petersburg This morning, you visit the magnificent
Hermitage Museum, housing one of the largest collections of Western
European Art in the world. Once your guided tour has finished, you
may stay on to further explore the museum at your own pace.

Day 22 St. Petersburg Today, choose from two out-of-town
excursions – in summer we recommend Peterhof Palace and gardens on
the Gulf of Finland, commissioned by Peter the Great as a response
to the Palace of Versailles, in winter, the Baroque Catherine’s
Palace in the town of Pushkin with its famous Amber Chamber.
