In late 2011 they successfully held two concerts–’Frank Sinatra and Diana Krall’ and ‘The Dreaming of a White Christmas’. Thanks to the many professional artists who have contributed and performed with Kush and Oyuka, their audiences were lled with the richness of jazz. Their next cover concert will feature songs by Michael Buble and Jamie Cullum, musicians known around the world. Performed in a contemporary style, it will bring a new type of jazz to the music scene of Mongolia. Contributing artists are from the Mongolian State Academic Theater of Opera & Ballet, the State Morin Khuur Ensemble, the Music and Dance College, and the Bayan Mongol Ensemble. He graduated from the Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture in 2008; worked for three years with the State Opera and Ballet Theatre; and is studying at the Russian University of Arts and Theatre. On the 30th of January he organized a performance of ‘Mirror’, a neoclassic ballet, at the Opera and Ballet Theatre. The ballet was performed in two acts, the rst being ‘black envelope and love’ composed by American composer James Horner. The second part consisted of examples of neoclassic, contemporary and classic ballet. State distinguished artists B.Saruul, G.Batchimeg and E.Erdenejargal played the lead roles in act one, and were supported by dancers from the Opera and Ballet Theatre in act two. A combination of classical and contemporary styles, it was the rst showing of this type of ballet on stage at the Opera Theatre. Spartacus or Spartak, is a ballet by Russian composer Aram Khachaturian, 1903-1978. The work follows the exploits of Spartacus, leader of the slave uprising against the Romans known as the Third Servile war. However, the ballet’s storyline takes considerable liberties with historical records. Khachaturian composed the ballet in 1954, and this was awarded a Lenin Prize for his work that year. In 1958, the ballet received its rst staging at the Bolshoi theatre in Moscow, choreographed by Igor Moiseev. However, it was the 1968 production, choreographed by Yuri Grigorovich , which achieved the greatest acclaim for the ballet. It remains one of Khachaturian’s best known works and is prominent within the repertoires of the Bolshoi Theatre and other ballet companies in Russia and the former Soviet Union. The Mongolian State Opera Theater is planning to present ‘Spartak’ with the support of the Tuguldur Foundation on February 18-19, 2011.
