• After we read Sir Gawain and the Green Knight today, we will discover that Sir Gawain, though honorable, fails in his quest when he chooses to give himself an unfair advantage in his meeting with the Green Knight.

In the academic world, students have access to many tools, one of them being Sparknotes. What do you believe is the role of Sparknotes? Is it cheating to use them? In what capacity is using educational notes and guides acceptable.

– Is there a temptation to take the easy way out? – Does this justify why teachers make you feel guilty or tell you not to use

them?

A Modern Day Tale of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight

Page 18: Monday, November 28 th

Respond in 2-3 paragraphs (collected)

• Explain the similarities between this clip and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Consider the situation, the ethical dilemma/temptations, and the resolution. Just like in SGGK, is this a fair test to give to someone, knowing that you are deceiving them to prove a point/teach a lesson?

• What would you do in this situation? Why? When you do something dishonest, do you think of the consequences or feel guilty, or do you only consider these things if you get caught?
