Dear Families Who would ever have thought that we would be starting Term Two in this way? It was very strange being at school without all our students today. What consoles us is the reason for this situation. We know that this is happening for the protection of our community. As an educational institution we would never choose to deliver our curriculum in this way but we are complying with the decision made by our State Government because we know it is part of a vital health plan to protect us all. We are already seeing the benefits of these initiatives which are helping us be prepared for what is to come. I am incredibly proud of the work our teachers have done to deliver this Learning from Home approach. It has been a huge endeavour where they have had to redesign the entire way they plan and perform their role. I can tell you that they truly missed their students today and are wanting to do all they can to help them through this. I know you are all having the same experience of needing to totally rethink how you do things at work and at home and I am amazed at some of the incredible ways different professions are carrying out their roles. I do encourage you to look for creative ways that suit your family as you implement Learning from Home. Your approach does not have to look like anyone else’s so please do not compare yourself with others. Please keep us in touch with how you are going. This is brand new to everyone and will have some hiccups so please reach out if something isn’t working or you need help no matter how big or small. Teachers will regularly check emails but will also be involved in other duties such as recording lessons, preparing materials and attending meetings. For immediate help please phone the school 4972 1305 or email [email protected]I heard a talk by Fr Rod Bower recently who had thought the Easter celebrations should have been postponed. He believed that Easter was a time where people should all be together to celebrate. He changed his mind though as he reflected on what had happened on that first Easter Sunday. The Resurrection actually occurred when Jesus was locked away in the tomb. Out of isolation, death and despair emerged new life, hope and joy. We need this Easter message more than ever this year as we each bear the impact of this disease. I pray that you do find some consolation and hope in the promise of this wonderful Season. I am very grateful for the messages of support we have received at this time. There is so much wisdom and compassion in our school community. I would like to leave you with the words one parent shared with me recently: Be kind to yourself, be kind to the teachers and be kind to our children. We are all doing the best we can in very difficult and different circumstances. There is no play book, this has not been done like this before, we are learning together. We’ve Got This! God bless you and Live Jesus in Your Hearts Forever! Jennett Mullane Principal [email protected]Monday 20 th April 2020 Term 2 Week 1
