• YOU SHOULD write down more examples if you can.

• YOU SHOULD also aim to address key terminology in your answer(s) such as PSB, Commercial Television etc.

Section B: TV Comedy

Using the Table you have been given (Page 2) YOU MUST:

• Identify 5 differences in terms of WHO each show is trying to target (Age, Gender, socio-economic group) and WHAT “audience pleasures” (Question 4 b) ) each text offers – for example ‘Outnumbered’ is a sit-com, whereas ‘ALOTO’ is a comedy quiz/panel show.

• YOU SHOULD try an include terms such as mass/niche appeal, theory such as ‘star appeal’ (Richard Dyer) and address the genre (type) of humour created.

• Key area to consider: HOW do the audience interact with the show?

Look at the photocopy of an Exam style answer for Question 4 a) and 4 b).

YOU MUST read through BOTH answers and highlight areas the examiner stated they “covered”, “showed” or “explained”.

YOU SHOULD then look at the structure and write an answer for both questions based on the tasks you have completed today for the 2 TV Comedy Case Studies:
