Walk to the sitting statue overlooking the Park and bear left up the narrow staircase to the local ceramicist Past the Church is the British owned ‘Chocolate shop’ aka ‘inofficial tourist office’ with nice jewellery. Bear right round the corner and reach the town’s view point overlooking the narrow alleys below. Explore the alleys and head down the main stairs towards the Square. Visit Ar De Cor and follow the road uphill past the Tourist office & viewpoint . Head down towards the junction by the entrance of Monchique past the craft shops , and . On your way back into town, drop by Maria Rosa’s little shop to see the handmade embroidery. Tip! Take a detour to the Convent and/or treat your- self to a ‘Galão’ (a white coffee) in Ochalá or one of the other cafes in the Main Square.
