HARMONY DAY The theme for Harmony Day is ‘Everyone Belongs’ and ‘Celebrate Australia’s Diversity’. On Thursday, 21st March all students are invited to add wearing the colour orange along with their school uniform. Orange is an international colour used as a symbol of peace. Classes will be participating in Harmony Day activities on this day and throughout the week. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT A CASUAL DAY KISS & DROP In recent weeks, morning parking out the front of the school has caused inconvenience to those parents wishing to ‘kiss & drop’. Parents are reminded that the school side of Jackson Street is a no parking area between 8.30am and 9.00am. If you wish to get out of your car and walk your child to the classroom please use other designated parking areas around the school during this time. Alana Kitson ‘STUDENT LEARNING DISCUSSIONS’ As part of our assessment and reporting cycle, late Term 1 is traditionally a time when families and teachers meet and discuss student learning and progress – these are often referred to as ‘interviews’, ‘parent/student/teacher meetings’, etc. In line with our site priorities and the progress we are making with developing successful learners, this year we are holding ‘ student learning discussions’. The timing and scheduling will be the same as it has been in the past, however the change in name means that we are intentionally focusing on student learning, and that all students, teachers and family members will be involved in the discussions. The agenda for each discussion will involve students sharing their reading, numeracy and wellbeing learning goals and talking about their progress. Teachers will share how they are supporting your child to achieve their goals and provide evidence of progress so far. Family members will also be invited to have input by sharing their goals for their child for the year, and to share how they feel they have settled in to 2019. Meetings will be scheduled in Week 9 this term, and families should receive a letter from class teachers today. You will be able to indicate your availability and preferred times, suggest if you want sibling meetings scheduled on the same afternoon/evening and receive further information about the format of the discussions. When considering your availability, please ensure that your child will be able to attend the scheduled time. In regards to our preschool children, learning discussions will be part of their schedule in Term 1 as well. Mel will be in contact with each preschool family to arrange a meeting time that will enable you to have input into your child’s goals for 2019 and to work together with preschool staff to support their growth. If you have questions about student learning discussions, you are welcome to make contact with your child’s teacher. PARENTS & FRIENDS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING The Parents & Friends Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday, 19th March at 7pm. If you require further information please do not hesitate to phone the school on 85835361 or call in and see Jane/Nicole in the front office. MAMMOTH MONASH MARKET PRODUCE STALL REQUEST The Mammoth Monash Market is our annual school fundraiser and continues to be a significant event on the local calendar. This year the market day falls on Sunday, 26th May. The success of our market is built on a combined effort between staff, students and parents. This year we are looking for a couple of families to help support Bev and the fantastic work she does on our produce stall. Bev’s son Todd is moving on to high school next year and we are hoping to find at least two wonderful Monash P S families who would like to take on this important role. Please pop into the front office for a chat if you can help. Thank you.

MONASH PRIMARY & PRESCHOOL FOOTY
TIPPING 2019
The 2019 AFL season is fast approaching and we are inviting all staff and parents at Monash Primary School to get involved. We had over 25 participants last year and I am hoping that increases this year. You do not have to be a so called AFL expert to participate, as often that is an advantage. Who will get the ultimate bragging rights and come out on top for season 2019? If you would like to be involved please see Mr Vlass for more information or message him on 0467505709.
