Land Available for Community

GardenThe strip of land is City of

Greensboro property. It is a dead space. A permit would be required but it is a connecting piece of land that links two areas of the neighborhood. This land has never been used and this neighborhood was built in the 1950’s.

The property owner at Immanuel would be able to oversee the community garden due to location and ease of access.

corners to increase longevity of bed

• Install support brace in middle to prevent warping/bulging of wood

• Galvanized screen can be layered in bottom to keep out burro pests

• Layer soil on bottom, mulch on top

CompostingComposting will be a necessity for the sustainability of the garden. With such a large strip of land, it will supply the plant life required to fill the compost bins. There are several bin options available than can be built with very low costs. Several bins can be built and strategically placed around the plot for easy access and use.

Future ProjectsAs the community garden stabilizes and grows, there are other projects that could improve the look of the neighborhood. This area is within walking distance of Greensboro Coliseum and receives a high volume of traffic. When visitors come through this area, they should see things to remember, not things that they want to avoid. Repairing fences and turning them in to murals would be an easy way to add beauty the neighborhood and change from a negative perception.

This fence is in a continual state of disrepair. Storms often knock it down. It is unstable. It is along a road of high traffic, particularly during events at the Coliseum. Not only could this fence be updated, it could have art painted and change the tone of this street.

Examples of painted fences. It could be simple or dramatic.
