MY MOCK UP COMPARED TO MY FINAL ANCILLARY WORK

CHANGES I MADE…

• I’ve chosen to upload my mock up last as I knew that I’d make some changes when working on my digital mock up. I think that the changes I made were definitely for the better, especially in terms of colour and general layout of the products.

HERE’S THE OUTSIDE OF THE DIGIPAK

In terms of the general layout of this it looks pretty similar to the final digipak from first glance.

The main changes I made to it were changing the background colour from light yellow to a purple/pink colour, this was after some experiment with the yellow and it didn’t look professional enough and was too bright and in your face. Another noticeable change is the positioning of the album and artist name in relation to the image of the artist, this was mainly due to the space and to make sure that I didn’t put the text ‘Romy’ over Romy’s face.

I was a bit cautious when positioning the text over the images body but I think the fact that the text is in white works well with the colour of the background and photo of Romy.

INSIDE OF THE DIGIPAK

The inside of my mock up is pretty much the same as the finished product, apart from the fact that I didn’t state the colour of it on the inside, and I also changed the design of the actual CD.

I played around with the opacity of the image on the CD making it lower and also enhanced the colour of the artists lips making them stand out as I think this works well with the background colour. In terms of the actual colour of the background, I used the colour picker, taking it from Romy’s vest top, then made the colour a contrast of light and dark pink, as I think it looks nice in relation to the background colour on the outside of the digipak.

I pretty much stuck to the mock up when designing my advertisement, although when actually deciding where everything should go I found it quite difficult as I wanted to maintain a good level of professionalism. I think that a strong point of my advertisement is the same colour scheme used on my digipak.

When incorporating the image of my digipak onto the advert I put a shadow effect on the image to distinguish it from the actual advert. I tried out a black border before but I don’t think it worked as well.

A discrete feature of the advert in comparison to the digipak is the way the edited image of Romy on the advert differs from the digipak. I adjusted the colour curves differently and made the image lighter on the advert as she stands out more.
