Subject: Activities to have during English is Easy Month
There are three things I’d like you to do.
Firstly, could you please help me write down the good and bad points of each activity for English is Easy Month as discussed by the teachers? Use the notes you made in the meeting with the English Department to complete the note sheet.
Secondly, please write an outline for a proposal about the online pen pal programme we’re planning on starting. Don’t forget to:
• statetheaim of the activity in the introduction
• talkabouthow the new online pen pal programme is different from a traditional pen pal programme
• mentionthebenefits and attractions of the programme
You should be able to find all the information you need on the school intranet discussion forum, in the emails I’ve forwarded to you as well as the notes you’ve taken earlier in the meeting with the English Department.
Lastly, during English is Easy Month, we will also be organising the English Carnival, which is a joint school event. I received an email about it this morning from Mrs Amy So and I would like you to help me reply her. Please remember to include the following points:
• she is welcome to accompany Andy to the carnival with her children
• she needs to get entry tickets (let her know how she can get them)
• the dress code for Andy on the day
• the arrival time and place for the choir rehearsal
• other details (e.g. time carnival starts, details of activities and performances)
Finally, ask her to contact me directly on 2100 0033 if she should have any further questions regarding the carnival.
Thanks for your help.

From: Mrs Lau, Vice PrincipalTo: Tony Leung, Student Representative, English ClubDate: 5 October 20 _ _ Subject: Activities for English is Easy Month
There are three things I’d like you to do.
Firstly, I am going to hold an evaluation meeting about the programmes held during last year’s English is Easy Month, so I will need to get feedback from teachers. Please help me summarise what they thought about the programmes based on the notes you made in the meeting. Secondly, I’d like you to write a FAQ section on the new online pen pal programme that our school will launch. Briefly introduce the new programme and state its objectives and benefits. Then talk about the differences between traditional pen pal and online pen pal programmes. Finally, focus on what students think about the online pen pal programme. You may refer to comments made by participants in other schools and the school intranet discussion forum.
Lastly, the English Panel is planning on creating a reading programme at our school, and I would like you to help me write up a proposal to our principal, Ms Tai. Please remember to:
• statethe programme’s name and aims
• talkaboutthe problems we have found with regard to students’ reading habits (you can refer to the English Panel’s survey results for this; quote figures to support your points)
• explain how the programme will work
• mention the cost of running the programme (we should only spend money on promotional materials and new English books; for the promotion budget, use the same amount that we spent on promotional materials for the English Drama Competition)
Thanks for your help.

Since online pen pal programmes have been successful in many schools, I think it’d be worthwhile for the English Department to start one for the upcoming English is Easy Month.
The programme will provide students with an opportunity to meet students from other countries through an inter-school emailing system. This, of course also helps schools build closer relationships with schools in other countries.
RegardsApril Lee, Head of the English Department
