Feature Function Benefit

HP Disk Sanitizer When redeploying or disposing your notebook, HP Disk Sanitizer destroys data on the notebook hard drive using a mechanism designed to military grade standards such as the U.S. Department of Defense 5220.22-M specifications. Once executed, data cannot be easily recovered, even with advanced data recovery tools.

Built-in capability that allows you to easily and cost-effectively incorporate secure data disposal as part of your notebook lifecycle management without needing to purchase third-party software or physically destroy the hard drive.

TPM Embedded Security Chip The Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is a standards-based cryptographic chip that generates keys used for many security applications, such as PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), data encryption and email encryption to provide enhanced security.

•Relative to software-only solutions, TPM provides enhanced hardware-based protection for data and credentials.•Ensures that HP notebooks can take advantage of Windows Vista security capability•Makes HP notebooks ready for the trusted computing infrastructure

HP Smart AC Adapter HP Smart AC Adapters are energy-efficient power adapters designed to offer a no-hassle, no-worry AC adapter plug-in experience. Each HP Smart AC Adapter has a built in sensor that communicates to the notebook when its power rating has been reached, allowing the notebook to make power adjustments when necessary. The new adapters also feature an integrated surge protector to guard against power fluctuations.

HP Smart AC Adapters help you save on equipment, power consumption costs, and travel weight. All 2007 HP Business Notebook platforms share the same HP Smart AC Adapters making it easier to manage inventory of power supplies.

HP Total Test Process • HP Business Notebook PCs undergo over 95,000 hours of testing. Our comprehensive and proven testing program delivers superior quality and reliability and includes 50,000 test steps with 240 industry-standard hardware and software products tested for compatibility.

• Mechanical tests simulate: – Opening and closing the notebook

10 times every day for 6 years (25,000 cycles), and

– 7 years of keyboard usage (10 million keystrokes).

Functional testing ensures that our notebooks can stand up to rigorous work environments. Better reliability means less downtime and a lower cost of ownership, so you can devote more attention and resources to expanding your business.

HPPI – reliability 3D DriveGuard“I lost all my data when I bumped my notebook on the desk and my hard drive crashed.”

3-axis Digital Accelerometer

Reduce HDD vulnerability

Better get the HP 3D DriveGuard!– Active protection with accelerometer acts as a

motion detection system

– Passive protection with hard drive mounted directly to the notebook frame to reduce transmission of shock

Only from HP: HP 3D DriveGuard has the ability to keep the hard drive parked indefinitely when the lid is shut and the system is in motion. In addition, the HP solution is designed to prevent excessive use of the hard drive “go to safe state” command to stay within manufacturers guidelines. An external LED indicates when the hard drive is in a protected state while on the move. None of our major competitors offer a combination of these three levels of protection.

ReliabilityHP Durable Materials

Feature Function Benefit

HP DuraKeys A clear coating applied over the notebook keyboard helps protect the finish and the printed characters on the keys. Tests show that keyboards with this feature are 50 times more resistant to visible wear than those without it.1

Keys look newer, longer and are more durable.

Full magnesium alloy enclosure (select models)

A durable and lightweight full magnesium alloy enclosure encompasses the top and bottom of the notebook to create an incredibly strong case for rigorous mobile user environments.

• Adds durability to help protect your notebook from bumps and drops.

• Helps minimize notebook flex. • Increased notebook durability

means less downtime, fewer repairs and better return on your IT investment.

1 In independent testing conducted by Trace Laboratories, HP DuraKeys showed no wear after 250,000 cycles. Some competitor notebooks showed significant wear after only 5,000 cycles
