Moa Mail 26 May 2010 The Inglewood Development Trust A match of David and Goliath proportion comes to Inglewood when Napier City Rovers take on Inglewood AFC. This will be the first time the two clubs have met. Inglewood play local football in the Taranaki Premier Football Competition while Napier City Rovers play three leagues higher in the Central League with the likes of Miramar Rangers, Team Taranaki and Olympic from Wellington. Napier City Rovers have won the Chatham Cup 4 times since 1985 most recently in 2002, and have also been crowned national champions on four occasions since 1989. Napier have a football facility rivalled by no other club in the country. Inglewood will have their work cut out for them. Inglewood are a team that is not afraid to play some of the better teams in the country and only two years ago made the 4th round of the Chatham Cup before succumbing to Miramar at Karo Park. Inglewood are playing well, focussing on the Taranaki Premier Football league while also keeping an eye on Napier. Napier have a tough away match on Saturday 5th against Western Suburbs of Wellington, then two days later they find themselves in Inglewood. The Inglewood Club is hoping the local community will come and support the event, they are under no illusion just how hard the match will be. The Inglewood side will be selected a handful of days before the game. Inglewood will have Samoan International Desmond Fa'aiuaso and Team Taranaki's Vincent Sharp available. Desmond Fa'aiuaso signed for Inglewood this year from NZFC Franchise Youngheart Manawatu while 18 yr old Vincent Sharp played for NPBHS. Inglewood Captain Des Murray plays in the Defence for Inglewood while David Hinz will hold the midfield for the home side. Sharp shooter Craig Adamson has hit a purple patch this season and will look to increase his goal tally against this classy Napier outfit.
