Mission Birey olarak insandan topluma uzanan yelpazede teknolojik, yapısal, işlevsel, psikolojik, sosyolojik, kültürel ve tarihi, ihtiyaçları detaylı inceleyip mimari mekâna dönüştüren; yaratıcı ve eleştirel düşünme becerisine sahip, etik değerlere bağlı, yerel ve küresel ölçekte disiplinlerarası çalışmalar yapan, yüksek bilgi ve beceri düzeyine sahip olan ve mimarlık ortamını evrensel düzeye yükseltecek lider mimarlar yetiştirmektir. The primary mission of our undergraduate program is to train architects who examine the technological, structural, functional, psychological, sociological, cultural, and historical needs in detail and transform them into architectural spaces in the spectrum ranging from individuals to society, have creative and critical thinking skills, adhere to ethical values, conduct interdisciplinary studies on a local and global scale, have a high level of knowledge and skill and raise the local architectural environment.

Vision Toplum refahına üst düzeyde katkıda bulunan, ulusal kimlik ve değerlere bağlı, uluslararası ölçek ve standartlarda güncel mesleki ve akademik donanıma sahip mimarların yetiştirildiği, araştırma alanında kuramsal ve uygulamalı çalışmalar yapan öncü bir mimarlık programı olmaktır. To be a pioneer architecture undergraduate program that contributes to the welfare of society at a high level, based on national identity and values, train architects with up-to-date professional and academic equipment on an international scale and standards, conduct theoretical and applied studies in the field of research.

Program Information

PROGRAM BİLGİLERİ

Mimarlık, ilk insandan günümüze barınma ihtiyacına bağlı olarak dünya tarihinin en eski mesleklerindendir. Mimarlık mesleğine gereksinim, değişime koşut olarak, devam edecektir. Mimarlık, farklı ölçek ve işlevlerde bina tasarlama ve inşa etme sanatıdır. Mimarlar, tasarladıkları binalarda kullanıcı ihtiyaçlarını göz önünde bulundururlar. Bu ihtiyaçlar, kişisel ve toplumsal değerler ile şekillenmektedir. Bu sebeple mimarlık, birey olarak insandan topluma uzanan yelpazede psikolojik, sosyolojik, kültürel, tarihi, teknolojik, yapısal ve işlevsel ihtiyaçları detaylı incelemeyi gerektiren geniş bir disiplindir. Mimar, bu farklı bakış açılarına sahip olmalı ve tasarım anlayışını farklı ölçeklerde yapı tasarlama ve inşa etme süreçlerine yansıtmalıdır. Mimar, insan ihtiyaçlarının değişimlerine ayak uydurabilmeli, farklı ihtiyaçlar doğrultusunda her yeni yer için yeni tasarım önerileri geliştirebilmeli ve soyut fikir ve düşüncelerden gerçekliğe uzanan farklı aşamalarda görev alabilmelidir. İstanbul Üniversitesi Mimarlık Bölümü olarak hedefimiz, sorgulayan, yeni fikirler üreten, farklı tasarım kuram ve yöntemlerini kullanan, her türlü çağdaş teknik bilgi ve beceri ile donatılmış, ahlaki ve etik değerlere sahip, ülkesini seven, insanlığa faydalı, aydın, çağdaş ve dünya çapında vizyona sahip mimar ve akademisyenler yetiştirmektir. Bu hedefler doğrultusunda İstanbul Üniversitesi Mimarlık Bölümü ilk öğrencilerini 2019-2020 eğitim öğretim yılında alarak eğitime başlamıştır. Programda bulunan derslerin %30’unu İngilizce tamamlamak esastır. Bu sebeple YKS sonrasında İstanbul Üniversitesi bünyesinde İngilizce sınavı yapılmaktadır. Sınav sonuçları doğrultusunda öğrenciler üniversitemiz bünyesinde İngilizce Hazırlık eğitimi almaktadır.

Architecture is one of the oldest professions, and the need for the architectural profession will continue in parallel with the change. Architecture is the art of designing and constructing buildings of different scales and functions. Architects consider user needs which are shaped by personal and social values, in the design process. For this reason, architecture is a broad discipline that requires a detailed examination of the psychological, sociological, cultural, historical, technological, structural, and functional needs in the spectrum extending from the individual to the society. The architect should have these different perspectives and reflect understanding to designing and constructing buildings at different scales. The architect should be able to keep up with the changes in human needs, develop new design proposals, and has to take part in different stages ranging from abstract ideas and thoughts to reality. At Istanbul University Department of Architecture, we aim to educate and train students who can produce new ideas, use different design theories and methods, equipped with contemporary technical knowledge and skills, have moral and ethical values, are intellectual, and have a world-class vision. For these purposes, the Istanbul University Department of Architecture started education by accepting the first students in the 2019-2020 academic year. It is essential to complete at least 30% English course credit in the program. For these reasons, After the Higher Education Entrance Exam (YKS), an English exam will hold at Istanbul University. Following the exam results, students receive English preparatory education at our university.

Admission Requirements

T.C. Vatandaşı öğrenciler için ÖSYM kayıt şartları, ÖSYM’nin her yıl yaptığı ilgili sınavlar (YKS-Sayısal) ile öğrenci kabul edilmektedir ve kontenjanımız 70 öğrencidir. Yabancı Uyruklu Öğrenciler için “Yurtdışından veya Yabancı Uyruklu Öğrenci Sınavı” ile İ.Ü. Senato Kararı uygulanmaktadır. Students are accepted by ÖSYM registration requirements for Turkish Citizen students and the relevant exams (YKS-Numeric) conducted by ÖSYM every year. For Foreign Students, "Exam for Foreign Students or Foreign Students" and IU Senate Decision are applied.

İSTİHDAM KABUL KOŞULLARI Employment Yeryüzündeki hızlı nüfus artışına bağlı olarak yapılı çevrenin sürekli yenilenmesi gerekliliği doğmakta ve mimarlık mezunlarına gereksinim artmaktadır. Ülke genelinde kaliteli ve yetkinlik sahibi mimarların yetişmesinde İstanbul Üniversitesi’nin güçlü akademik yapısı mimarlık bölümünün de güçlü yanını oluşturmaktadır. Mimarlık eğitiminin İstanbul’da Tarihi Yarımada’nın merkezinde yer alan kampüste verilecek olması programın diğer önemli yönlerinden biridir. İstanbul Üniversitesi Mimarlık Bölümü’nde tasarım odaklı ve çok boyutlu düşünme kabiliyetine sahip mimarlar yetiştirilmesi hedeflenmektedir. Mezunlarımız mimarlık ofisleri, şantiyelerde, yerel yönetimler, kamu kurum ve kuruluşları, yapı ve inşaat sektörünün tüm alt branşlarında çalışabilirler veya mimarlık disiplini altındaki birçok branşta akademik kariyer yapabilirler.

Due to the rapid population growth in the world, the necessity of continuous renewal of the built

environment arises so the need for architecture graduates is increasing. The strong academic structure

of Istanbul University constitutes the strength of the architecture department in raising qualified and

competent architects throughout the country. One of the other aspects of the program is that

architectural education is given at the campus located in the center of the Historical Peninsula in

Istanbul. The Department of Architecture of Istanbul University aims to train architects who are design-

oriented and capable of multidimensional thinking. Our graduates can work in architectural offices,

construction sites, local governments, public institutions and organizations, all sub-branches of the

building and construction sector, or they can pursue an academic career in many branches under the

discipline of architecture.

Graduation Conditions

Programdan mezun olabilmek için öğrencilerin öğrenim dönemleri sürecinde zorunlu derslerini almış olmaları, %25'i seçmeli derslerden oluşan 240 AKTS tamamlaması, Genel Ağırlıklı Not Ortalaması (GANO) değerinin en az 2.00 olması, 60 işgünü stajını yapmış olmaları ve en az %30 İngilizce ders kredisi almış olmaları gerekmektedir. In order to graduate from the program, students must have taken compulsory courses, taken and succeeded 240 ECTS Credits, 25% of which consists of elective courses in total, completed an internship for 60 days and received at least 30% English course credits. In addition, the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of students can not be able below 2.00.
