For year 2020, ASEAN NCAP assessed the non-hybrid model of the Mitsubishi Outlander following the assessment of its Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) model in 2019. The non-hybrid Outlander performed well in the assessment with scoring for the 3 assessed domains were not much difference from its PHEV model. ASEAN NCAP tested the left-hand drive version of the model that has 2 airbags and is equipped with ABS and ESC as standard across all variants. Despite offering SBR for driver only for the Vietnam market, the 7-seater SUV has safety assist technologies namely AEB City, Inter-Urban, Pedestrian and FCW system either as standard or as optional fitment. With a total score of 83.54 points, the Mitsubishi Outlander is eligible for 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating.
ASEAN NCAP has introduced Blind Spot Technology (BST) in its new 2017-2020 protocol. In the protocol, ASEAN NCAP assessed the functionality of each BST that are fitted inside the vehicle. The Mitsubishi Outlander, of the non-hybrid model, is equipped with BST fitment as an option on both sides of the vehicle for the Vietnam market. In this assessment, ASEAN NCAP confirms that the technology has functioned according to ASEAN NCAP requirements on both the left and right side area of the vehicle.
