Todd Hardin has taken on the responsibility of submitting our chapter’s events to the News & Views section of the MI magazine. With Todd’s help we will now have regular submissions to this section. This section in the MI magazine keeps other clubs informed of our clubs activities, celebrations etc. Submissions to Todd need to be done by the 5 th of every odd month. Please email Todd with your submissions at [email protected]September Activity Guide for a Day Fundraiser was held on September 16 th on Pomme de Terre. We had ten guests from all over the state on the water for the day. High skies and hot temperatures made the day uncomfortable but there were several fish caught. Largest reported fish was about 32 inches and some below 30. The weekend was summed up by one person by saying, “Just wanted to say a big thank you for a great weekend! Although I didn’t catch a muskie, I did learn a lot of tips to fish for them.” Thanks to everyone that volunteered to guide; Denis Ledgerwood, Gary Pearson, Doug Hutchison, Earle Hammond, Eddie Stephens, Fred Ipock, Paul Olejniczak, and George Donner. Thanks to everyone that participated to help make this a successful fund raiser. September 23 rd was the 11 th annual Border War Challenge between the Pomme de Terre Chapter & the Shawnee Muskie Hunters on Pomme de Terre Lake. Our club took back the traveling plaque! Score was Pomme Muskie Club 3 fish for 108 ¾ points to 0 for Shawnee. Weather was extremely warm for the time of year with a bright blue sky making for less than optimal fishing conditions. Pomme had 14 teams fishing while Shawnee had 3 teams. Fish for the Pomme Club were caught by the team(s) of: Gary Pearson & Davin Sawyer a 41 ¼” Muskie Jim “Coach” Wilson & Clayton Ginnings a 36 ½” Muskie Earle Hammond & Dick McPike a 31” Muskie. Gary Pearson & Davin Sawyer took home the Big Fish Pot of $125. Thanks to Steve Worstell and Gary Pearson for cooking brats & burgers at the Friday night picnic and for Jim Smith for cooking steaks at the Saturday evening dinner. September 24 th was the King of the Lake Tournament Part 2. The fishing conditions did not improve and as a result no fish were caught on the 2 nd leg of the tournament during the ½ day event. Susan Sappenfield won the Big Fish Pot of $90 by draw. The next and last leg of the tournament is Sunday November 5 th and is a full day event; fishing hours are 8AM to 4PM with awards immediately following.
