Production Design

Setting and location are crucial to anchor the meaning of the text, which can manipulate an audience by building certain expectations and then taking a different turn.

Costume And Make Up

Costume and make up are important as it aids the representation of the character, and hold meaning within the genre and narrative.

Lighting Lighting helps create the mood of the drama.-To highlight the important characters or objects within the frame-To make characters look mysterious by shading sections of the face & body- To reflect a characters mental state/hidden emotions (ie. bright=happy, dark=disturbed)

Props Props can add to the realism of a scene and hold meaning within the narrative.

Gesture Gesture shows the emotion of the character, which indicates their own feeling and attitude.

Facial Expression

Facial expression provide a clear indicator of how someone is feeling; If someone smile broadly, we assume they are happy but we may get a different answer with a scary background music behind.

Body Language

Body language may also indicate how a character feels towards another character or may reflect the relationship between two people.

Colour Design

Colour coded in drama convey specific interpretations of characters, and carries certain connotations which may add meaning to a scene (eg.Red=evil/danger/passion)
