Advice:
- Camera switch problem- Remove old pictures from camera- Install lithium AA batteries for flight- Don’t tape your 9V batteries together- Secure wires and tape down switches- Camera settings- Fresh batteries where possible- Condensation- Hot glue and electrical tape
- Don’t give up, never surrender
LRR Feedback:
- Good job everyone- Worry about things coming lose in your box- Cold test should have reached -40C external- Payloads should have been operating during cold test- Label all plots

Launch Update:
- Here are some items we need to cover
- Meeting location- Launch site directions- Transportation- Launch day procedures- Chase and Recovery- Miscellaneous, but very important
Meeting Location:
- Meet in parking lot 436 at 5:30 AM Saturday
- We are launching at 7:40 AM (unheard of in the history of humankind)
- Don’t need to meet at CU, can go directly to launch site but be there no later than 6:30 AM.
- Be late, be sorry
- You needs a ride?
Transportation:
- Who needs a ride?
- 1 CU SUV
- 7 people
- The goal is to have all vehicles stay together
Where?:
- Windsor, Colorado- I-25 North- Exit 262- East, 1.3 miles- CR 3- Right on CR 3- 200 – 300 yards- Launch Site left
Launch Day Procedures:
- There are several players on the field to ensure our launches are good
- Launch Control and Launch Supporters- Launch Coordinator- Payload Launchers- Guppies
Launch Day Procedures:
- Edge of Space Science Guys
- Have fancy radios and usually blue hats
- Very nice but run a tight schedule
- Don’t drop their control payloads
- Don’t congregate in their control room

- Dress in layers, you will be outside all day
- No bathrooms
- Limited access to power
- 6:25 Arrive at launch site- 6:30 Turn in payloads- 6:50 Breakfast is served (bagels & coffee)- 7:20 Balloon Fill begins- 7:40 Launch I- 7:50 Launch II- 7:55 Report to chase vehicles- 8:00 Begin Chase
Launch Day Procedures:
If you are driving yourself…
- Arrive fully fueled and ready to go
- Gas Station at exit of in town, not sure on hours
- Cars must be in good shape and suitable for highway driving as well as various terrains (4WD recommended)
- Speeds can get high…
Chase and Recovery:
Chase Team:
- Chase should be over no later than 3:00 PM
- Chase will be as follows:
- Each car will be provided a 1 radio to communicate with our lead SUV and 2 detailed maps
- CU van will have 2 tracking systems including GPS and real-time telemetry from balloon
- Demonstration: Using a FRS Radio
Chase and Recovery:
- Make sure you bring the following:- Pants- Good shoes, no sandals- Sun Block- Hat- Light Jacket or wind breaker- Sun Glasses
- Relieve yourself before launch, no time after launch
- Don’t drink too much on the ride
Chase and Recovery:
- Be prepared to have fun, Be prepared for a hike- Wait for permission before entering landing site
- Rural Coloradoans are “packin heat”- Don’t wander to far from landing site

- When reaching actual landing site, please wait for everyone to have a chance to see landing orientation before handling hardware

- Make hole diameter as close to tube diameter as possible
- Secure with paper clip
- Make sure paper clip does not interfere with inner diameter
