    &he hotel industry is an important component o# the tourism industry' &he #ortunes

    o# the hospitality industry ha(e al)ays *een lin+ed to the prospects o# the tourismindustry' &ourism is the #oremost demand dri(er o# the industry' Along )ith the

    tourism industry, the Indian hospitality industry has also emerged as one o# the

    +ey industries dri(ing the gro)th o# the ser(ices sector and, there*y, the Indian

    economy'

    &he hotel industry is one o# the #astest gro)ing industries in India' &he total

    mar+et sie o# Indian tourism and hospitality sector stood at .S/ %'% *illion and

    is expected to touch .S/ 40'1 *illion *y 222' &he #oreign direct in(estment

    I7 in#lo)s in hotel and tourism sector during April 2 to 8uly 23 stood at

    .S/ 6,%54'41 million, as per the data released *y epartment o# Industrial Policy

    In the year 2922, hotel supply across ma:or cities )itnessed a gro)th rate o#

    5;, )hile the demand sa) an increase o# 2; in the same period' In the long

    term, the demand-supply gap in India is (ery real and that there is need #or more

    hotels in most cities'
