BIOGRAPHYOur alive artist from Mallorca was
born in Felanitx in 1957.
STUDIES
• Miquel Barceló studied in the Felanitx’s High School. • He continued his studies in the “Arts School” of
Palma.• He ended his studies in the “Sant Jordi Art School” in
Barcelona.
•
HIS FIRST ART
• He began to work with boxes, that he exibed in the Mallorca Museum, in 1976.
• In these boxes we can see the descompisition of eggs, brains, flowers, birds…
THE TRAVELS
In 1989 Barceló went to Mali and another african countries looking for news themes for his art.
ILLUSTRATIONS
Through this journey in 1992,
illustrates the book by Paul Bowles called “Too far from
home”
AWARD PRINCIPE DE ASTURIAS
• In 2003 he received the “Principe de
Asturias” prize for arts,
one of the most
important awards of
Spain.
LOUVRE MUSEUM
In 2004 he exhibited at the Louvre museum his watercolous of the Divine Comedy, becoming the first living artist exposes in the museum .
In March 2007, was opened in Mallorca Cathedral, the Chapel made by him on clay.

HONORARY DOCTOR
• In 2007 he was awared honorary doctorates by the University of Illes Balears
WORK FOR THE UNITED NATIONS
• In May 2007 Barcelo began the decoration of the dome of the hall XX of the Palace of United Nations in Geneva.
