ROLL CALL: All the members were present. Senator Hirsch made a motion that the people appointed to the various boards, as listed below, be recowmended to the Senate as a whole for confirmation: Board of Psychologists: Dr. Arthur L. Nicholson Board of Radiological Technologists: Rosemary K. Cuskelly Adrian C. Howe Dail F. Lodge Howard N. Mazurkiewicz Margaret Mothershead Alice M. O'Donnell Long D. Romip.ger Board of Realty Regulation: John B. Duois Lyle E. McKenna Patricia Raundal Board of Regents of Higher Education: Dennis E. Lind Elsie J. Redlin David Paoli John Scully Senator Hirsch said that he checked into the backgrounds and education of these people and found them to be very professional. He said there appeared to be no problem with any of them. However, Senator Hirsch felt that, at least on his boards, there were not many appointments from the Eastern part of the state. Question was called, and the Committee voted unanimously in favor of Senator Hirsch's motion.

Senator Hirsch made a motion that the people appointed to the various boards, as listed below, be recowmended to the Senate as a whole for confirmation:

Senator Hirsch said that he checked into the backgrounds and education of these people and found them to be very professional. He said there appeared to be no problem with any of them. Senator Anderson said that he h~d checked into these people's backgrounds, and that there were many of them that the members knew personally. Senator Anderson said the only one that he wondered about were ,John Astle and Lloyd Markle who were both educators and he wondered how this would affect the balance of the Board. Senator Haffey told the Committee that John Astle had had a varied career in the newspaper business as a printer, and other jobs. Senator Anderson mentioned that one of the members on the Board of Private Security Patrolmen & Investigators had passed away, but he assumed he would be replaced. Mark Bisom, of the Governor's office said that he would be replaced shortly. Question was called, and the Committee voted unanimously that " Senator Anderson's motion do pass.

Senator Mohar said that he talked to other legislators who knew these. people individually ana they are held in very high regard. Question was called, and the Committee voted unanimously that Senator Mohar's motion do pass.

Senator Conover said that he knew approximately 50% of the people appointed to these boards personally. He said these people were highly recommended. Senator Conover said they were from allover the state. Question was called, and the Committee voted unanimously that Senator Conover's motion do pass.
Senator Farrell said that he was not as efficient as the other members, and needed a little more time to look into the Board of Lanscape Architects. Senator Farrell made a motion that the people appointed to the various boards, as listed below, be recommended to the Senate as a whole for confirmation:

Senator Farrell said that he noticed on the Milk Control Board that there was no-one involved in the dairy industry. Mark Bisom of the Governor's office said that there would probably be two other appointments and they are public members, and in this way they don't have a conflict of interest and cannot be accused of price fixing. Question was called, and the Committee voted unanimously that Senator Farrell's motion do pass.

Senator Lynch said that he had checked into the backgrounds of these people and found them to be very professional. He asked that he be allowed to hold the Board of Denturity because he had been informed that there may be a change. Question was called, and t-he Committee voted unanimously that Senator Lynch's motion do pass.
Senator Manning asked that he be allowed to pass on his Boards as he was not yet finished. Senator Haffey said that we would hear them on Thursday, March 28, 1985.

Senator Harding said that she had checked into the backgrounds of these people and called into their areas, and she had had no bad reports. She said that she only knows three of them personally, but through her search, she was told that everyone was doing a good job. Question was called, and the Committee voted unanimously that Senator Harding's motion do pass. ~
Senator Tveit told the Committee that he had only had time to check into one of his boards. Senator Tveit made a motion that the people appointed to the Board of Livestock, listed belOW, be recommended to the Senate as a whole for confirmation:

Question was called, and the Committee voted unanimously that Senator Tveit's motion do pass. Senator Haffey asked that Senator Tveit please be ready with the rest of his boards by Thursday. March 28, 1985.

Senator Haffey said that he had read the resume's and background information on these appointees and had visited with persons who know the appointees, and he is comfortable making the motion that they be confirmed by the Senate as a whole. Senator Manning gave an extensive background talk on Mary Hempleman telling the Committee what a good worker she is. Question was called and the Committee voted unanimously that Senator Haffey's motion do pass.
