Sacrament of Baptism
Baptisms are celebrated at the 5:00 pm Mass on Saturday
or Sunday at 1:00 pm outside of Mass. Baptismal prepara-
tion class for parents is offered the fourth Tuesday during
the months of January, March, May, July, September, and
November. You must register no later than the Monday
before class. The class is held in the Parish Center at 7:30
pm and aCendance is required before a child can be bap-
tized. Baptisms are not performed during Lent.

Saturdays from 4:00–4:30 pm at St. Augustine Church
Sacrament of Marriage
Congratulations on your engagement! A premarital prepa-
ration program is required by the Archdiocese. It is im-
portant to contact the rectory office at least six months in
advance of a wedding date. A tentative date can be set af-
ter the first appointment, but will become final only after
marriage preparation is completed .

Collection - The Sunday, November 22nd offerings were $7347. There was $7401 in
286 envelopes, $923 loose and $23 in children’s envelopes. The Sunday, November
29th offerings were $17,571. There was $16,547 in 283 envelopes, $989 loose and
$35 in children’s envelopes. The Thanksgiving collection was $399.64. The
monthly EFT processed November 29th from 155 parishioners was $17,352. Thank
you for your generosity!
Finance Commi?ee Meeting - Tuesday, December 15th at 7:00 in the Rectory
Conference Room.
Parish Council Meeting Minutes – Meeting minutes form the November 17th
Parish Council Meeting are available at all entrances of church. Please pick up a
copy at your convenience. Next parish Council Meeting is Tuesday, January 19,
2016. Thank you.
Friday Faith Series - Fridays in the Hanover Street vestibule after the 8:00 am
Mass for conversation on various Catholic topics. Refreshments and fellowship
provided. For additional info, call Sr. Marla Gipson at 419-628-2614. There will be
no Faith Series on Friday, Dec 25th or Jan 1st.
Tuesday Social - Tuesday, December 29th after the 8:00 am Mass in the Parish
Center. We will finish St. Rita of Casia, the compelling story of a loyal woman who
endure immense paid yet finds peace and hew hope through her deep union with
Christ. Join us for baked goods, coffee and fellowship!
Parish Assessment & Cemetery Dues - Reminder that all contributions must be
received before December 31 to receive tax credit. Please note non-parishioners or
parishioners who are not current on dues are assessed additional fees for burial

Church Cleaning For November: Karen Kauffman*, Phyllis Kremer, Jane Steinemann and Kelly Mueller
CYO Sock Collection: we will be collecting new socks through December 20th. Our CYO kids will bring our
donation to the Alpha Center in Sidney. The Alpha Center is geared toward providing basic critical needs to at
risk adults, families and children. They may be homeless, addicted, disabled, and mentally ill or simply a senior
on a fixed income. Any size of socks are welcome. Please deposit in collection bins at the entrance of church. For
any questions, please contact Carol Dircksen at 419-628-2126.
Second Collection: There will be a second collection today for the Retirement Fund for Religious. In the
United States today, more than 33,000 Catholic sisters, brothers, and priests past age 70 benefit from the
Retirement Fund for Religious. Traditionally, religious women and men worked for small stipends that
furnished only the basics of daily living. As a result, a majority of religious communities now lack adequate
funding for retirement. At the same time, the cost of care continues to increase. Your gift to the Retirement Fund
for Religious helps provide medication, nursing care, and more. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

A Time to Heal … Please pray for our parish members who are sick, especially

away recently.
Eucharistic Adoration - No adoration Dec 7th in honor of the Holy day. No
Adoration Dec 14th for reconciliation services.
Thank you - The Mission Commission would like to extend a big thank you to
everyone who participated in the Thanksgiving Food Drive. We donated the
grocery items to Agape Food Pantry of Auglaize County. God bless you for your

Grief Share - Final meeting of St. Augustine’s Grief share program will meet in the
Rectory basement on Monday, December 7th at 7:00 pm. New Grief Share sessions
are available at Precious Blood Rectory, Chickasaw beginning January 5th at 7 pm
or at the St. Henry CCD Center, St. Henry beginning January 4th at 3:30 pm.
Knights of Columbus Meeting - Tuesday, December 8th at 8:30 pm at the K of C
Hall. All current members are welcome to aCend the meeting and enjoy food, drink
& fellowship immediately following.
National Night of Prayer for Life - Tuesday, December 8th at 9:00 pm until 1:00 am,
at the Spiritual Center Chapel, Maria Stein. Each hour will begin with a hymn and
Prayers of reparation for the sin of abortion, Eucharistic Adoration, rosary,
confession available, closing with Benediction. All are welcome and participants
may come for all or part of the event.
Men’s Prayer Group - Saturday, December 12th at 7:30 am in the Rectory basement.

Mission Commission Baskets - Wednesday, December 16th at 1:00 pm in the
Rectory Basement. Members will be assembling Christmas bags with fruit & snacks
for the over 90 and home bound. Two dozen cookies from members is appreciated.
Right To Life Signature Ad Campaign - Mercer County Chapter will purchase a
full-page ad in the Daily Standard. Several hundred others names will be included
in the Pro-Life Ad. If you wish to participate, please send $5.00 along with the
name/names as you wish it to appear to Pat PoCkoCer, 5158 State Route 119, Saint
Henry, OH 45883 by January 10, 2016. Make checks out to Mercer County Right to
Life. This ad will appear in the newspaper dated January 20, 2016.
Wet Your Whistle Night - Friday, January 29th from 7-10 pm at St. Anthony School
Hall sponsored by the St. Anthony Ladies Sodality. A variety of wines and beers
will be available for tasting from the Celina Wine Store. Tickets are $15 and light

4pm Christmas Eve Family Liturgy - Parents, Please tell your PSR children 2-8th
grade if you plan to aCend 4pm Christmas Eve Mass, so that they can sign up in
their Religion classes to participate in the Liturgy. Liturgy practice will be after
school on Dec. 18. Church bus transportation will bring the children to Church
and parent pick up is 4pm. Thank you! Kindergarten and 1st grade students will be
invited to be Angels…no practice necessary. Details coming.

Liturgy of the Word - Sunday, December 13th at the 11:30 am Mass. Open to all 3
year olds thru 1st grade. Children are dismissed from church immediately after the
opening prayer to the rectory basement for gospel reading and activity associated with
the reading. Children return to Mass during the offertory procession.

We invite kids to join us for craft, game, Christmas Carols, and Brother
Francis Movie O Holy Night to celebrate Advent in a preparation of
Christmas. Light snack will be provided. Church bus will transport students
after school to the Parish Center with parent pick up at 5:00 pm. For further

Reading I : Baruch 5:1-9
God will show all the earth the splendor of Jerusalem.
• The prophetic language of Second Isaiah which presents a glorious vision of the vindication of God’s people.
• Jerusalem, clothed in the glory and justice of God, would welcome her children home.
• All creation would share in the delight and make a smooth shady path for the people of God.
Reading II : Philippians 1:4-6, 8-11
He who has begun a great work in you will continue to strengthen you.
• Paul’s LeCer to the Philippians expresses his great hope for the people in Philippi whom had enthusiastically
accepted the Gospel of Christ.
• The Philippians had supported Paul financially and shown kindness to him during his imprisonment.
• Paul reminds them to love one another and to value what truly maCers.
Gospel : Luke 3:1-6
The preaching of John the Baptist.
• Luke sets the story of Jesus in historic context for his Gentile audience by listing the important figures of the
time.
• At the end of the list, he concentrates on John the Baptizer.
• The lone prophet, John the Baptist, was to preach the arrival of God’s salvation in Jesus.
