As Bendigo’s first ever a la carte restaurant and delivery service, many will remember the iconic red phones attached to the rooves of Clogs delivery cars and the dawn of a new era for restaurants in the region. Now in 2017, Clogs is still owned and managed by the van Haandel family with co-founder Martin van Haandel’s youngest son Michael now at the Clogs’ helm after crafting his trade at the iconic Stokehouse Restaurant, Nobu London and as Restaurant Manager at Longrain Melbourne. Clogs remains a vibrant Bendigo icon; the birthplace of thousands of local romances, the reliable, late night feed and frequented by one and all. DID YOU KNOW The original pizza base recipe is still being used today. Our traditional chocolate mousse is still Grandma van Haandel’s secret recipe. Clogs was also one of the first restaurants in the country to have their pizzas featured on airline in-flight menus. A former Clogs chef had pizzas delivered to the base he was working at in Antarctica The Clogs building was architecturally designed by William Vahland, one of the most notable architects during the Bendigo goldfields era. Clogs Gourmet Pizza range was the first gourmet pizzas available in Bendigo. The ‘Clogs Special’ and many of the Clogs Original pizza range are still the same traditional pizza recipes created more than 40 years ago… Clogs was the first free delivery pizza in Australia.
