I was asked to do a design time

test, I was given four hours to

conceptualize and design an

exhibition stand for Standard

Bank Property Investments for

the South African Council for

Shopping Centres expo.

Revit Render with Photoshop.

The inspiration behind this design

came from the Google search tab

and a star bucks coffee add I had

been watching, and I realised how

well “tech” and coffee go.

I used a flooring system that would

create a flooring feature in the

shape of a WI-FI sign, while also

adding a small environmental idea.

Iintroducing Modular Sensa

Flooring, which is a floor lighting

based system that works when

exposed to touch or body weight.

The idea is that once it lights up, it

will create a foot imprint, and will

only fade out 10 minutes later,

thus reminding us of carbon

footprints we leave behind.

Black Robot Advertising Agency and

Brand Development Studio.

This design was inspired from the

Bergen International Festival/ Gjolanger

Bruk by Erikson Skajaa Architects and

the Flamingo Shanhai Offices by Neri &

Hu.

It features angular wall features that

evolve into bulkheads, with white crisp

walls to accentuate the black angles with

a touch of deep purple mock suede

fabric and living features walls.

An image of the boardroom

waiting/pause area with an inside view

of the boardroom.

These wall/bulkhead features are

slightly different to the others but

connect in such a way to accentuate

the two rooms and tie them together.

If you look to the section you will see

the pattern forming.

Using glass partitioning with glass

vinyl will create the “seen but not

heard” idea within the work

environment thus improving team

moral and motivation.

Living Feature walls have been

researched and proven to have

healthy and productive impacts on

the “office” life.

Using the living wall features, we are

able to create a natural temperature

moderator, by improving air quality

and air flow through the office,

creating a microclimate and sound

insulation.

This cutting edge technology has it

all;

•Beauty

•Environmental

•Practicality

•Psychological benefits

•Marketing benefits

South Africa… In lights.

The project brief was based on the Eskom (Electricity

Supplier Company in South Africa) Competition brief,

where we were asked to design a lamp design that

was truly South African.

My design is based off the ideas of A Democratic

Country. Using the Vertical Tubes as the 4 main pillars

of South African Democracy;

Democracy

Equality

Reconciliation

Diversity

While the linear tubes represent the 11 official

languages of South Africa.

I added a contemporary touch with Chinese Origami

paper Folded Boxes and stained with the famous

South African tea; Rooibos.

Tetrival (Natural Light)

The client brief was to reuse an old

shipping container as a lighting design,

using both Artificial and Natural light.

This design was based on the game,

Tetris. The concept aims to create cut

through shapes in the container, and

lining the container with a reflective

metal, that will create reflections of the

whole container with the natural light

when walking underneath it.

On each side of the container, one

shape was a colour Perspex piece

fitted to the cut-through, which when

the sun light hits, it creates colour

reflections inside the container

Revit Render Project.

.. Take a walk with me… (Artificial Light)

The client brief was to reuse an old

shipping container as a lighting design,

using both Artificial and Natural light.

This design aims to integrate the idea of

floor slits and cut outs, and a variety of

transparent Perspex, with strong lighting.

The idea is based upon an design of a

Kaleidoscope, an inviting adventure into

the rabbit hole of dreams.

The end is blacked out with a screen, as

to create a further allure to the space,

while keeping the natural light at bay.

Hand built model project.
