Welcome to Langara College

n UBC accepts more university transfer students into first degree programs from Langara than from any other college in BC.

n Langara students who transfer to Simon Fraser University (SFU) achieve higher cumulative GPAs on degree completion than transfer students from other institutions, and demonstrate achievement that is directly comparable to the achievement of students who complete their entire degree at SFU.

n More than 90 percent of our career program graduates find employment in their chosen field within four months of graduation.

n Our Continuing Studies area offers a unique selection of intensive English and academic skills programs for students whose first language is not English, in addition to personal and professional development courses designed to meet the learning needs and schedules of our diverse community.

Our campus combines the convenience of an urban setting with a peaceful environment that includes lawns, wetlands, and trees as well as a golf course and YMCA next door. Our central Vancouver location on West 49th Avenue is easily accessible by bus, bicycle, or car.

Students planning to attend Langara College in 2007 will be the first of many who will enjoy the new library/classroom building currently under construction. This new building has been designed to address long-term environmental concerns and demonstrates sensitive and responsible use and management of natural resources.

I invite you to learn more about Langara College through our website and to contact our Counselling and Continuing Studies departments to identify how we can help you meet your goals.

It is with great pleasure that I introduce newcomers to Langara College and welcome back alumni who are returning to continue their educational journey.

I would like to share with you some of the excellent reasons for choosing to study at Langara College.

n Langara alumni and our current students have discovered that smaller class sizes, award-winning instruction, and readily available, friendly services have made their post-secondary education experience successful.

n Our reputation for academic excellence in the post-secondary system is evidenced by the high level of success our students achieve when they graduate from Langara and pursue a university degree or embark on their career.

n The Langara “Block Transfer” agreements with other institutions allow our students to transfer their entire program into a degree program.
