Lisa Scilabro , Theresa Payne , John Hilton , and Robin LeBourveau. At Ruth C. Kinney Elementary School , Mr. Engel' s fourth grade class has been very busy un- covering what Colonial America really was like. Into the time tunnel they went , winding up in colonial villages made by groups from ice cream sticks , tooth- picks , milk cartons , and lots of paint and glue. A village can 't really be a village without people to work and run it. With this in mind , each child in the class decided what job he or she would like to do if they were living in Colonial America. In they came , dressed appropriately for their chosen job. Girls in long, wide dresses and bonnets like the women of Colonial America , and boys dressed as blacksmiths , ship builders , farmers , and other people necessary to run a colonial village. The boys and girls agreed that their jobs would have been extremely hard , and they were quite happy that they live in 1970 modern America.
