FlexiBuzz Tips Thank you to our wonderful community for transitioning across to FlexiBuzz in previous weeks. Some helpful tips are below, and address some of the minor issues some school community members have experienced. 1. When you register to set up FlexiBuzz, ensure you use the same email as used on
your child’s enrolment form to access information/push notification 2. If both parents/carers wish to access information/push notification and reports
etc, even for families experiencing separation, the office requires an email for both parents/carers – this is due to the FlexiBuzz App being required to “talk” to the secure software provided by DET
3. If you’re not receiving notifications, ensure you tick all the groups relating to your child/ren as well as “Whole School”; and
4. Please use the absence tab to inform us of student absence or late/early arrivals, not the “chat” tab.
If you experience any difficulties, please contact the School Office for support.
Read, Read, Read…! Please actively encourage your child/ren to read every day. We are very fortunate at school to have:
Well-resourced classrooms for home-reading (please encourage daily)
An extremely well-equipped and resourced school library, overseen by amazing volunteers. It’s accessed/timetabled weekly for students as well as available during lunch-times for use; and
The City of Ballarat mobile library, free of charge, to access 12mths of the year for borrowing and use, each Monday afternoon from 2:30-4:30pm.
Did You Know? Korean Exchange This year we are anxiously awaiting confirmation and details related to our 2017 exchange, in which we will again host approx. 20 Korean students from our Sister School in Busan, South Korea. It is a truly wonderful life-experience for families with students of any age, which can be verified by the 2015 participants, who were all brave enough to host two students (or staff) each. The exchange is most likely to take place in August, so please advise our office staff if you interested in hosting – all costs are covered. Note: I already have a handful of families who have notified me of their willingness to host, thank-you!

Another wonderful family event last Thursday evening was extremely well supported by our families.
Thanks to Mrs Hay for working with Relationships Australia to provide a great community evening of activities.
Thanks to Miners Rest Lions for the great BBQ. It was great to see the photo booth and disco well supported too! We hope you all enjoyed a great evening.
We look forward to Assembly where our award recipients will be presented.
We are planning on conducting a literacy and a numeracy information session for parents later in the term. They will primarily be aimed at parents of younger students
and parents who have not attended in previous years.
To facilitate our organisation and to assess the viability of the sessions, we are asking parents to indicate if they would be interested to attend and times that would be most
convenient for the majority. Please respond through Flexibuzz or by calling into the office by Friday June 2nd.
Proposed session times are:
Wednesday Evening 6-7pm
Wednesday Morning 9-10am
Wednesday afternoon 2.20-3.20pm
Please indicate:
1. Your name, your student/s name and their Year level
2. Most convenient time, morning, afternoon or evening.
3. Any questions or topics in that you would particularly like included in the sessions. For example….How is subtraction taught in Yr4? Why are the books my child brings home for reading really easy?

It was great to have so many Mums, Dads, Grandparents and other significant people in the children’s lives come to kinder. The children helped to make Jam Drop Biscuits for their special people and shared them at morning tea time. All of the special people were invited to complete a painting with the children and participate in the different learning experiences at kinder. The children seemed so proud to be able to show off their kinder. Thanks to everyone who joined us. We hope you enjoyed coming to kinder as much as we loved having you here!

OSHC Outside of hours school care: before school care, after school care,
after kinder care, vacation care and curriculum care.
What have we been up to?
Construction ————> Decoration ———————> Eruption
The Wednesday afternoon children have been working extremely hard the last three weeks, building, decorating and erupting their volcanoes! Bi carb and vinegar reactions varied and took some good timing to get the perfect lava eruption.
The kinder children were feeling the music this week with
the musical playground at school being the highlight.
Some budding musicians.
July School Holidays
Keep an eye out in the next few weeks for the upcoming schedule for the school holiday program. With much interest and success with the last holiday program we are hoping to make it even more exciting with an assortment of excursions and incursions.
OSHC Safety Door
Strongly encouraging parents to attain the pin to the door and actively use it of a morning and afternoon.
