A simple recipe for Milkweed (Ana͞ena͞wīsa͞eh) soup: Gather Milkweed buds in early summer. The milkweed is ready for harvesting when it has budded and not yet flowered. Pick the leaves and buds at the top of the milkweed plant. Place leaves and buds in a salted water bath for one hour. The salt will help clean the milkweed. Heat a soup pot to boil equal parts water to equal parts milkweed. Rinse milkweed and add to pot. Boil for 30 minutes and you may stir gently. It is ready to eat and enjoy.
