TheMIIMScannerispoweredbyeither110-voltor220-voltAC.AswithallACpowereddevicesitisimportantthat ► allapplicablelocalelectricalregulationsbefollowedduringinstallationofthisdevice. ForNorthAmerica,equipmentmustbeinstalledinaccordancewithapplicablerequirementsoftheNational ► Electrical Code® and/or the Canadian Electrical Code. Donotallowthisdevicetocomeintocontactwith,orbecomeimmersedin,waterorotherliquids. ► Cleanonlywithadrycloth. ► Thisproductmustbeinstalledinanenvironmentallycontrolledarea,withappropriateheatandhumiditycontrols. ► Allowforadequateventilationaroundtheunittomaintainnormaloperatingtemperature.Donotblockanyventilation ► openings. Donotattempttoopenthecase,disassemble,oralteranyportionofthisdevice.Anyunauthorizedopeningofthe ► caseortamperingwiththecomponentsinsidewillvoidthewarranty. Product Overview
TheMIIMscannercommunicateswiththeMIIMpatchpanelstocollectdataregardingchangesinthephysicalstructuredcable plant and to drive patch guidance LEDs on the panels. The scanner is connected to each patch panel through industry-standardRJ45patchcords.Thescanneralsoprovidespowertoallthepatchpanelsthroughthecommunicationbuscables.
Onthefrontofthescannerare:Status lights• .LightsS1andS2indicatecommunicationwiththenetworkandoperationofthescanningfunction.LightsS3–S6indicateproperoperationoftheelectronicsinsidethescanner.On • and Reset (“RST”) buttons. These are recessed buttons that are rarely used.Two LAN Ports• .TheportlabelledLAN1isforconnectiontothenetwork.TheportlabelledConsole/LAN2isforconnection to a laptop PC, or a redundant connection to the LAN. The LAN ports operate at either 10 or 100 Mb/s,D-sub connector• (“COM”)–neverusedinthefield.
Ontherearofthescannerare:ACPowersocket.ThisisanIEC-60320C14powersocketforusewithastandardpowercable.Thepowersockethasan•integrated1.5ampfuse.ScannerCommunicationBusPorts.Thereareatotalof48scannerports.Twenty-fourareforconnectiontoHorizontal•Panels(alsoknownas“PatchPanel”orPP)andtwenty-fourareforconnectiontoEquipmentPanels(alsoknownasCross-connect panels, or CC). It is recommended that patch panels be connected in order to ports 1-24 as needed WireManager.ThisisusedtosecuretheCommunicationBusCablesandpowercord.•
Installation StepsThe steps to install the scanner and connect to MIIM Patch Panels are:
Mountthescannerinrack,usingscrewsand/orcagenutsasrequiredforyourparticularrackorcabinet.Ensure1. thatsufficientroomisavailableattherearofthescannertoconnecttheCommunication Bus Cable.Allowforadequateventilation around the unit, and do not obstruct any ventilation openings.
ConnectcommunicationbuscablesfromrearofscannertotheMIIMpatchpanels.Connecteachpatchpaneltothe4. “Horizontalpatchpanel”or“Equipmentpatchpanel”portsasappropriate.AstheCommunication Bus Cable to each patch panelisconnectedthetwopowerstatuslightsonthefrontofthepatchpanelshouldcomeon.DonotattempttoconnectEthernetorotherLANcircuitstotheseRJ45ports-theyareintendedonlyfordirectconnectiontotheMIIMpatchpanels.
ThissectiondescribestheprocesstocheckthattheMIIMScannerisconnectedandcommunicatingwithMIIMPatchPanels.ThisinvolvesaccessingtheScannerinterfacefromthewebbrowserofaPCthatisconnectedtotheConsole/LAN2portofthescanner.ItisassumedthatyouhavealaptopPCwithaLANport,andhaveawebbrowserinstalledsuchasInternetExplorer,Firefox,Safari,orChrome. a.FirstmakesureyourPCisnotconnectedtoanyLANs–neitherwirednorwireless.IfyourPChasawirelesscard pleaseturnitspowerofforotherwisedisableit. b.SetIPaddresstofixedaddress192.168.10.xxxwherexxxisanynumberotherthan117.Forexample, youcouldsettheIPaddressofyourPC’sLANadapterto192.168.10.1.Beforedoingthis,besuretomakeanote ofyourcurrentIPsettingssothatwhenyouaredoneyoucanresetyourPCtoitspriorconfiguration.Themethods forviewingandthensettingtheIPaddressvariesdependingonyouroperatingsystem–forreference,themethod forWindowsXPisoutlinedinthesection“SettingYourIPAddress.” c.ConnectapatchcordfromtheLANportofyourPCtotheConsole/LAN2PortonthefrontoftheMIIMScanner. DoNOTusethe“LAN1”portforthis. d.Presstheresetbuttononthefrontofthescannerandwaitatleast30seconds. e.Startyourinternetbrowserapplication,andentertheaddress192.168.10.117intheaddressbarofthebrowser -thisisthedefaultIPaddressforthescanner’sLAN2port.ThewelcomescreenoftheScannerinterfacewill appear. f.Click“SignIn”andlogintothescannerinterfaceusingthedefaultsettingsofUserName=adminandPassword= admin. g.Thestatusofeachscannerbusportontherearofthescannerwillappearaseither: i) green, meaning that the scanner is properly communicating to a patch panel through that particular scanner bus port, or ii)black,meaningthatthescannerisnotcommunicatingthroughthatport.Thismeansthateitherthereis nopatchpanelconnectedorthereisanissuewiththepatchpanel. h.Youmaywanttosaveascreencaptureofthiswebpagetodocumentthatallpanelsareproperlyconnectedtothe scanner. i.Nowtestthatthepatchguidancelightsoneachpatchpanelarefunctioningproperly.OnthemainGUIscreenclick on “Debug.” In the box titled “Test Panel LEDs” enter a panel number (1-24) and press “Start.” The patch guidancelightsonboththeassociatedCCandPPpanelsshouldcomeoninsequence.Click“Stop”toendthe

MIIM Scanner and Patch Panel:ShouldanydefectinmaterialorworkmanshipoccurduringtheabovetimeperiodinanypartoftheProduct,asdeterminedbyMolex’sinspectionofthedefectiveProduct,Molexagrees,initssolediscretion,eithertoreplace(notincludinginstallation)ortorepairthedefectiveProductasprovidedin“ReturnandRepair”below,ortorefundthepurchasepriceinexchangeforreturnofthedefectiveproduct;provided,however,thebuyergivespromptnoticeofthedefecttoMolexatBuyer’sownexpense.Anysuchrepairorreplacementshallbewarrantedunderthetermsofthiswarrantyfortheremainderofthetermofthiswarranty.

A) Clientandserverapplicationsformonitoring,administrationandmanagementofscannerandpatchpanelsystems(“Client/ServerApplication Software”);B) Softwarefirmwareand/orapplicationcomponentsembeddedinscannerproducts(“ScannerSoftware”);andC) Softwarefirmwarecomponentsembeddedinpatchpanelhardware(“PanelFirmware”).
ThetermsofthisAgreementareintendedtoapplytocompaniesorindividualsthatusetheSoftwarefortheirinternalpurposespursuanttothetermsofthisAgreement(“EndUsers”)aswellastothird-partiesprovidinginstallation,implementation,configuration,systemsengineeringorconsultingserviceswithrespect to scanner and patch panel products (“Service Providers”).
I. Use of the SoftwareSubjecttothetermsandconditionssetforthinthisAgreement,andcontingentonpaymentinfullfortheproductsandSoftwareprovidedbyLicensor,Licensorgrantstoyou,andyouaccept,alimited,non-exclusivelicensetousetheSoftwareinobjectcodeformaswellasanyupdates,enhancements,modificationsorreleasesprovidedtoyouaspartofsupportandmaintenanceservicestowhichyouhavesubscribedorareotherwiseentitledunderthetermsofthisAgreement,andanyusermanualfortheSoftwareprovidedbyLicensorormadeavailablebyLicensoronitswebsite,asmodifiedfromtimetotime(the“Documentation”),onlyforyourowninternalbusinesspurposes.
Under this Agreement, an End User may:(A) InstallcopiesofClient/ServerApplicationSoftwareforpurposesofusingsuchSoftwareinaccordancewiththetermshereof.(B) UseScannerSoftwareforwhichyouhaveobtainedlicensekeys,solelywithrespecttomanagementofthe numberofhorizontal Ethernetcableconnectionspermittedbythetermsofsuchlicensekeys(eachkeyobtainedprovidesalicensetousetheSoftwarewithrespectto 576 such connections).(C) Makeone(1)copyofClient/ServerApplicationSoftwareforarchivalpurposes,andmakeadditionalcopiesofClient/ServerApplicationSoftware solelyforpurposesoffacilitatinguseoftheSoftwareascontemplatedherein.(D) UsetheScannerSoftwareembeddedinscannerproductssolelyinsuchembeddedform.(E) UsethePanelFirmwareembeddedinpatchpanelhardware,solelyinsuchembeddedform.(F) UseandcopytheDocumentationforpurposesofinternaltraining,configuration,useandtroubleshooting.
Under this Agreement, a Service Provider may:(A) InstallcopiesofClient/ServerApplicationSoftwareforpurposesofinstallingandconfiguringsuchSoftwarefortheusebyanEndUser.(B) UseScannerSoftwareforwhichtheend-userhasobtainedlicensekeys,solelywithrespecttomanagementofthenumberofhorizontalEthernet cableconnectionspermittedbythetermsofsuchlicensekeys.(C) MakecopiesofClient/ServerApplicationSoftwaresolelyforpurposesoffacilitatinginstallationandconfigurationoftheSoftwareascontemplatedherein.(D) UseandcopytheDocumentationforpurposesoftrainingEndUsers,implementation,configurationandtroubleshootingofthescannerproductsand patchpanelhardware.
III. TransferTheSoftwareandtheDocumentationmaynotberented,leasedorsublicensed.Thepurchaserofthescannerproductsand/orpatchpanelhardwaremay,however,transferallrightstousetheSoftwaretoanotherpersonorlegalentityprovidedthatsuchotherpersonorlegalentityagreestothetermshereofinwriting.Suchtransfermustinvolvethetransferofownershipandcontrolofthescannerproductsandthepatchpanelhardwaretosuchpersonorentity.ExceptasprovidedbythisAgreement,anyattempttolease,sublicense,assign,ortransferanyoftherights,duties,orobligationsunderthisAgreementshallbevoid.

IV. Export Provision LicenseeacknowledgesthattheexportoftheSoftwaremayrequirelicensesorapprovalsforexportfromtheUnitedStates.LicenseeagreesthatregardlessofanydisclosuremadebyLicenseetoLicensorofanultimatedestinationoftheSoftware,Licenseewillnotre-exportdirectlyorindirectlyanySoftwarewithoutLicensor’spriorconsent,andprovidedthatLicenseeshallineachcasecomplywithallapplicablelaws.
The maintenance subscription shall entitle you to receive:(A) AllmaintenancereleasesandupgradestoSoftwareand/orfirmwaremadegenerallyavailabletootherregisteredusers;and(B) Reasonablecustomersupport,asdeterminedbyLicensorconsistentwithitsstandardpractices,viawebandtelephone.
VII. Limitation of LiabilityINNOEVENTWILLLICENSOR,ITSSUPPLIERSORAFFILIATES,BELIABLEFOR:(I)ANYAMOUNTOFLIABILITYORDAMAGESINEXCESSOFTHELICENSEFEESPAIDFORTHESOFTWAREGIVINGRISETOLIABILITYORDAMAGES;OR(II)ANYCONSEQUENTIAL,INCIDENTAL,INDIRECT,ORSPECIALDAMAGESARISINGOUTOFUSEOFTHESOFTWARE,INCLUDINGANYLOSTPROFITS,LOSTSAVINGS,INCONVENIENCE,EXPENSEFORSUBSTITUTEEQUIPMENTORSERVICES,STORAGECHARGES,ORLOSSORCORRUPTIONOFDATA,EVENIFLICENSORHASBEENADVISEDOFTHEPOSSIBILITYOFSUCHDAMAGES.NEITHERWILLLICENSORBELIABLEFORCLAIMSOFANYTHIRDPARTY.Withoutlimitingtheforegoing,youassumeallrisksandliabilityforloss,damageorinjurytoyouandyourpropertyandtoothersandtheirpropertyarisingoutoftheuse,misuseorinabilitytousetheproduct,unlessdirectlycausedbythegrossnegligenceofLicensor.Somestatesorjurisdictionsmaynotallowthelimitationorexclusionofliabilityforincidental,special,orconsequentialdamages,soaportionoralloftheabovelimitationmaynotapplytoyou.YouacknowledgethatLicensor’sobligationstoyouwithrespecttotheSoftwarearegovernedsolelybythisAgreement,andyouexpresslywaiveyourrighttoassertanyclaimagainstLicensorarisingundertortlaw,including,butnotlimitedto,negligence,grossnegligence,willful,recklessorwantonconduct,negligentmisrepresentation,innocentmisrepresentation,fraud,claimsforfailuretoexerciseduecareintheperformanceofserviceshereunder,and/orstrictliability,aswellasanyotherclaimunderanyotherlegalorequitabletheoryotherthanaclaimofmaterialbreachofthisAgreement.
VIII. Governing Law and General ProvisionThisAgreementshallbegovernedbythelawsoftheStateofIllinois,excludingtheapplicationofIllinois’choiceoflawrules.ThisAgreementshallnotbegovernedbytheUnitedNationsConventiononContractsfortheInternationalSaleofGoods,theapplicationofwhichisexpresslyexcluded.ShouldanyportionofthisAgreementbefoundvoidandunenforceable,itshallnotaffectthevalidityoftheotherportionsofthisAgreement,whichshallremainvalidandenforceableaccordingwiththeirterms.YouagreethattheSoftwarewillnotbeshipped,transported,transferred,orexportedinviolationoftheUnitedStatesExportAdministrationActoranyotherexportlaws,restrictions,orregulations.ThisAgreementmayonlybemodifiedinwriting,signedbyanauthorizedofficerofLicensor.
IX. Restricted RightsTheSoftwareandDocumentationarecommercialcomputersoftwaredevelopedatprivateexpenseandareprovidedsubjecttothetermsofthiscommerciallicensepursuanttoFAR27.405-3andDFARS227.7202.YoumaynotprovidecopiesoftheSoftwareortechnicaldatatoanythirdparty,includingtheU.S.Government, unless such third party accepts the same restrictions.
XI. Force MajeureNeitherpartynoritsrepresentativesshallbeliablefordelaysorfailuresinperformancehereunder,otherthanpaymentobligations,resultingfromactsbeyondthereasonablecontrolofsuchperson,andtimeforperformancewillbeextendedbyaperiodequaltosuchdelay.Suchactsshallinclude,withoutlimitation,actsofGod,strikes,lockouts,riots,actsofwar,epidemics,governmentalregulationsimposedaftertheexecutionhereof,fire,powerfailures,earthquakes,orother disasters.
XII. ReliefLicenseeacknowledgesthatanyviolationofthisAgreementbyLicenseewillcauseirreparableinjurytoLicensor,andLicensorshallbeentitledtoinjunctiverelief.
XIII. GeneralThisAgreementmergesallpriorwrittenandoralcommunicationsanddefinestheentireagreementofthepartiesconcerningtheSoftwareandDocumentation.ThefailurebyeitherpartyatanytimetoenforceitsrightsunderthisAgreementwillnotbeconstruedasawaiverofsuchrights,norwillitinanywayaffectthevalidityofthisAgreement.Nowaiverbyeitherpartywillbevalidunlessgiveninanappropriatewritingsignedbybothparties.
XIV. Third Party Software RightsTheSoftwaremaycontaincodefromthirdpartysoftwarevendors,whoretainallrightsinandtotheircode.Furthermore,theuseoftheSoftwareshallbesubjecttothetermsandconditionsofuseofsuchthirdpartysoftwarevendor.
