BmTS Deliverables

A number of standard, generic end-to-end processes for collection, analysis and dissemination of statistical data and information.A disciplined approach to data management, using a standard information lifecycle for all statistical data and information across the organisation. An agreed enterprise-wide technical architecture which would build up "over time a portfolio of standard solutions and components".

Change of Plan

Over the next two years (2008 - 2010) focus on the preparation of a robust Investment Case, for separate funding of the BmTS development;Focus will continue on standardising processes or methods, using technology as an enabler only when the value is proven; While there will be no further direct software development of BmTS Components, projects will still be encouraged to adopt proven deliveries, and a team will work to ensure that the wider organisation is made aware of these deliverables

Lessons learned

Don’t assume a single source of complete information;Expect to uncover issues as we look into these older systems;Be prepared to continually re-plan as new items come to light;Work closely with partners (business owners, data archiving, architects)Communications - keep the message alive (success stories);Test, test, test (especially the translated code)
