Woman is still dying during delivery and perperium

Mortality rates are known to be the highest among the third world

countries (70-80 deaths per 100,000 (Human

development file 1997)

Infant mortality rate is 28 per 1000 and children who die less than 5 years of age are 35.4 per 1000

(Human Development File 1997)

The midwifery personnel are assessed to be 4.6 for each 10.000 women in the west bank while in Gaza

strip it is only 1.4 per 10.000
